The ticket bought from directly the airline will most likey be "issued" within the Philippines. The airline is the one that gets fined anyway so it's in their best interest to comply with the law. Just to be on the safe side, look at your ticket's fare breakdown. The tax will be a line item called "PH" with the amount of P1620 or it's 30 something $ equivalent.

Not really. That is very airline dependent, PAL is almost a given - just because ;) , but other airlines doubtful being they are based in the Philippines. Most end up paying at the airport.

Ah, thank you very much. This will get to crazy to track as to which airline is at which terminal. I will make note of the counter being near counter/gate 1 at T3.

You're welcome. As of now, 4 airlines moved from T1 to T3. Delta, Emirates, KLM and Singapore Airlines. Cathay Pacific (but not their Dragonair subsidiary) will move sometime in October. No more planned moves until 2015. The Cathay move will be confusing to most since at least 1 (or maybe 2) MNL-HKG Cathay flights are actually operated by Dragonair and will continue to be in T1.

Ah I remember posting somethig like this in July.EVA and Asiana wanted the physical credit card of hubby so they can print the ticket for me.One of them wanted hubby to go to L.A to present the card.Lol..So I ended up flying Delta, giving me 2 days to prepare at a very good deal (last minute deal).Ticket already had the travel tax paid and it showed ticket was issued in Manila.Hubby just needed to go to the Phoenix airport and show his credit card.I have my greencard now and will start working on Monday.Hurrah!

Yeap. I remembered that thread. It's actually two separate issues. I sometimes have been asked to present credit cards even for tickets NOT originating Philippines. This is mainly done to combat credit card fraud. EVA and Asiana needed your husband to go to LA office because that's the closest office to him. Delta had an advantage because they have a ticketing office in PHX.

That's what the airline does to comply with the law. Have their Philippine branch issue the ticket and collect the tax.

Congrats on getting your green card :)

It looks like Delta collected taxes for the Philippines on my fiancés one-way ticket:

Details - Taxes/Carrier-imposed Fees

Total: 257.40

Itemized: 5.50 YC 5.00 XA 10.10 SW 170.00 YR 5.00 OI 7.00 XY 37.30 PH 17.50 US

Any thoughts from anyone? I think is shows $37.50 to Philippines in U.S. dollars that's 1666 pesos based on today's

exchange rate on Google.

If this is the tax I guess I need to make sure I have a receipt with us showing we already paid it.

Considering that no one ever gets the full rate with exchanges that is about right for the travel tax. Good to know that Delta collected it. Yes for sure carry a receipt with the breakdown.

Yes that's the travel tax. I didn't think a company like Delta risk fines by not collecting it.

As for the rate, they used whatever rate their bank charges them to convert to PHP on the posting date. It won't be exact

I hope Delta didn't collect taxes for your roundtrip ticket :)

We had a few issues when we flew out.

Umm, Hank, with the renovations going on, the travel tax counter at term 1 has moved. When we were there, it was over by counter 1, to the right when coming in the door. I would not be surprised if it moves again.

As for CFO, it's good we flew up to Manila on Thursday to get the sticker on Friday, and not just figuring on getting it at the airport Saturday night. Went over there, and found out that someone over there screwed up when my wife did the gcc to get the certificate to get the passport in her married name. She filled out the form with her married name, but someone put her maiden name. Didn't think anything of it at the time, but when we went to get the sticker, they said it didn't match, so we had to do a correction, and pay the 400php again. Ao we had to go back to the hotel, get everything we needed and go back. Pain in the rear.

So advice for all- when doing the gcc, if you're married already, be sure the certificate is in your married name. And if you're gonna grab the sticker on the way out, best to make sure that you are in Manila at a time the CFO office is open, just in case there is a complication.

We got tickets online from asaina, the website is not the best for reliability, but I got it to work. Used a credit card that was not mine, got the number over the phone, never had an issue. Had to pay the travel tax at the airport.

Side note, I wouldn't sit on the chairs there in terminal 1. The wife was sitting there, and some bugs living in the seat (I pulled apart the cushions and saw them running to hide again) bit her. Still has the bumps a week and a half later. But they're almost gone. My opinion, anyplace you get bitten by bugs living in the seats, is nasty. Fair warning to those flying out of there.

Glad you got it to work. The Asiana website is one of the worst airline websites out there.

Are you referring to the chairs near the coffee shop or the ones by your gate? That sucks, hopefully none of them decided to catch a ride in your carryon.

Thanks for this thread. I bought a ticket from Delta and they didn't collect the tax. I called them and they didn't seem to know about it. It seems from comments in this thread that I can pay it at the airport if needed.

One way from Philippines? Did you buy it directly from them?

Yea I called delta's international customer support and they sold it. They hooked me up with some good seats, too.

No issue to pay the travel tax at the airport. Just have to find the counter... they are remodeling ... and it has moved. I would ask a guard by the luggage scanner when you first walk it, hopefully they can point you in the right direction.
