I am not completely sure how/why I came to be on the mailing list of this group as I am NOT in the DC/Maryland area. Nevertheless, in the event some of you are, I have attached the text of an email I received that details what sounds like a wonderful event coming up this weekend. Enjoy!

On March 12, the Washington Moroccan club is hosting a book signing event for Diane Skelly Ponasik who will sign copies of her new book, Tangier, a Novel, at A Taste of Morocco, 8661 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, Maryland, 20910.

Come to discuss the book and stay for a Moroccan dinner and live music for $15.00. all inclusive For those who can't make it, you can get a signed copy of Diane’s book via www.washingtonmoroccanclub.org <outbind://4/www.washingtonmoroccanclub.org> , send your request to :

info@washingtonmoroccanclub.org

This historical novel is set at the beginning of the 20th century in an era of civil war and political unrest as a young Sultan tries to fend off European powers interested in annexing Morocco, while bandits and pretenders threaten his throne. Lili, a Moroccan girl raised in Tangier by the American Ambassador is convinced her future lies in becoming a Western woman, and, despite her attraction to a Moroccan noble, she marries an American diplomat posted to Morocco. As she watches the country fall into civil war and follows the noble, Tariq, in his resistance to its take over by the French, she realizes the strength of her allegiance to Morocco and her love for Tariq.
