Spanking is way worse than beheading. Radicals behead, so let's ban spanking. A kid gets attacked by a pit bull, ban poodles. Ban legal guns so just criminals will be armed.

Cars cause more deaths than guns. Ban cars. Especially on I-93.

What do you think the percentage rate of death per use of both guns and vehicles are? I'd be willing to bet that far more people are killed whenever a gun is used compared to people killed every time a car is used. And before you go there, I'm not including someone shooting in a controlled environment like a range, I mean when a gun is used in the general public.

It seems very obvious to me that the key point on that issue is that the prevalence of firearms throughout the United States makes for a society that is generally less save overall. Quibbling about the difference between lawful gun owners Vs. criminals who use guns to commit crime is ignoring the obvious - that is, that gun crime and gun-related fatalities have more (or as much) to do with how many guns are in circulation rather than who is using them and why.

According to the chart on the link below, there were only 1.13 deaths per one hundred million miles driven in the US in 2012. I'd say that's a pretty darn low percentage. I wonder what the ratio of yearly gun uses by the general public to deaths would be?

Gun deaths per mile driven will be way less.

I'm not so sure they will. But I do wonder how many deaths per rounds fired in the general public occur each year in the US. I bet if we knew the numbers, you wouldn't think about comparing guns to vehicles.

Yes but there are probably more than 1.13 deaths per 100 million rounds fired.

My guess is a whole lot more. But let's keep making obscure comparisons of unlike objects, shall we?
