I called USCIS when 6month passed from our NOA1.

They said

"TSC k1 processing time average is 8month.

Its been slow since may 2014.

Call us 2month Later."

I was told this as well. I believe the 8 month number is coming from them simply counting the time from May 6 until today (January 7). Since they're using the outdated/inaccurate processing time info, this new estimate of 8 months is equally inaccurate, I think. It is not written anywhere and has no basis in reality.

It's so fricken weird. Up until the end of the year they were processing petitions and people were being approved, albeit very slowly. But it still seemed like we were on target for that "6 month" wait……but now it seems like they grinded to a halt and are pushing everything back.

So either they are lying about the times or a huge caseload of other applications have taken priority over K1. I can't really imagine any other reason for a sudden delay.

Yes this is what I keep wondering... they must be doing something, but what is it?

I wonder what they are working on .. at first I thought maybe they were changing their system and with the new website set up etc that they might be making things quicker and more efficient.... well now we know that's not the case.

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

I checked the general information about the K-1 visa on the US embassy of Stockholm webpage and they say that the predicted time for step 1 (NOA1 to NOA2) is 6-8 months. So I guess it is still technically within normal processing times even though it doesn't feel like it.

The website is at June 6th now - I think it was changed around January 12th. I am hoping for big things for July filers in the weeks to come because there are no short weeks due to federal holidays for a while! No excuses now UCIS.

Right, but I wrote that message on January 7, before the new times had been released :)

My fingers are crossed as well!

Got a letter in the mail from the USCIS earlier this week and was soooooo excited. I really thought it was my NOA2. Nope!! Instead it was a letter regarding my inquiry basically just stating even though you think you're outside our processing time, you're not. We are still within our processing time......so just wait longer! These people are really getting on my last nerve here! This is just total BS that we are now six months out and they say just wait longer!

Thank you! I do see in the last 15 approvals for the TSC a lot of dates that are right around ours so maybe our time is right around the corner. But then this is only half of the journey, so it will still be a few more months after the NOA2 before this is all finally finished. No way it will happen within five weeks so my fiance will just come for a few weeks when our daughter is born and he will have to go back and await the rest of the process. It's ridiculous that it's looking like it's going to be a year to get through all of this, but I guess the glass half full would be we are more than halfway through it at this point. Good luck to you as well! Hope we hear something very soon!!
