Hi,

I was wondering if I recently started a new job this year, should I still include last years W2? My income last year was well below the poverty line.

But in April I started a new job that meets all the requirements. So should I still include last years W2 even though it's not a good representation of my current income?

Thanks

Yes, you need to include the most recent taxes, letter from employer and/or recent pay stubs.

Instructions for Manila >

k. EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form with original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134.

Hi,

You only need to include the w2 if you're not using a tax transcript. When you use the actual tax return instead of the transcripts you need to include all w2's 1099s forms and schedules. If you will be submitting the transcripts, the w2 will not be needed because the info is already there.

Also, I'm not sure if it is required for the K1, but when we did it, we had the transcripts for the past 3 years.

The most important thing here is always the latest taxes and proof of current employment.

This does not constitute legal advice.

YES! Embassy required your most recent tax return and W-2 (2013 currently) Also because of your new employment include the letter from the employer and copies of pay stubs. If you new employment has the necessary income to meet the requirements it would be good if your gross yearly income was listed in the letter.

Details on the process for Manila in my link below. Follow the flashing arrow, click the link.
