i'm from california, but living in new york. my job has turned to sh*t and i want to move back...

but im a week or two away from sending my application in for the I-129f............

would i be a fool to go back to california and start the process there? does it take way longer than vermont? i've looked on the timelines but i would rather ask personal advice from people on here. i'll stick to this job if i have to for another six months but if it doesn't make any difference, then i'm outta here.

and....what if i move part way through my application process? say i mail it in now for vermont but in two months i move to ca? any difference?

Vermont is faster, and the shipping department at Vermont actual ships out your package to the NVC in a timely manner. Trust me you do not want your visa application to be done at the California Center. The worst part with the California center is after everyone receives the NOA 2 that your case is being sent to the NVC (K Visa Applications) and etc.. Everyone just keeps waiting for the clowns in the California Service Center Shipping department to ship out cases to the NVC. The waiting time is the most stressful thing.. With the Vermont center by the time most people receive there NOA2 letter, there case has already reached the NVC.

Send it with your NY address and hopefully it will stay at VSC, otherwise it might be transferred to the CSC anyway as many of the applications go that route.

This will be replacing the one which was just made available last week?

I am hoping to file by 2/7 depending on when my fiance gets his letter of intent/bio/photo to me - I've got everything else ready to go.

I would suggest filing to Vermont using your current NY address and then drag your feet as long as possible on the job change and move. Then send a change of address to USCIS after you move. I asked my lawyer about this when I filed, as I was planning to buy a house and move.

I WOULD NOT use someone else's address, as it's not really your address and could be considered fraudulent information.
