Stories like this are often cherrypicked by the US media because they are aimed at the sort of paranoid people who think that paying income tax is a gross invasion of their personal liberty.

Reminds a bit of the hoo-ha a few years ago that schools in England were taking the holocaust out of the curriculum for history so as to not offend muslim students. The entire story was fabricated, but naturally far-right USC VJers don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

So the truth - the school has made a business decision with a catering company. The Government has nothing to do with it - apart from the fact that they allow schools to manage their own catering arrangements.
