my apologies if I'm posting in the wrong forum, but, don't know where else to do it and assumed everyone here would be more knowledegable with the proper process. I know I'm going to have to apply for a I-601. I'm sending away for my record from the RCMP and their web site is a bit confusing (to me anyway). I've received a pardon (my record is from over 20 years ago), so my fingerprint check is not going to show anything. but, their web site does list another form to release pardoned records to a third person. should I ask for that one too since the U.S. is wanting the court records, etc? A couple of years ago I was refused entry into the U.S. when they did a random check and found out I had a record. I applied for, and received, a 5 year waiver a year prior to applying for our K-1, (we just received our NOA2) so the U.S. is aware of my record anyway. So basically what I'm asking is....since I've received a pardon, there won't be anything on the normal check that the RCMP returns to me.......what else SHOULD I be getting? thank you.

Getting a pardon doesn't necessariy mean it's not going to show up on your police record. It may still show up but may or may not say you were pardoned on the CPIC/NCIC systems. Many people that say they have been pardon but their record is still showing up - sometimes it does mention the pardon but in more cases it doesn't mention any pardon. Contact your RCMP directly to find out how to make sure that it isn't on your record anymore.
