Anyone else out there going through the process of filing 129-F for benificiary with child/children. From what I read, sounds like need child's birth ceritifcate, proof of custody and letter from other parent giving permission for child to leave country. I know this changes for each consulate and depends on sex of beneficiary.

Just would be interested in hearing folks experience with this. What can be done

ahead of time to save hassles at the interview. thanks!

K-1 - VSC

Aug 2005 -- 1st trip, We meet, become friends; Jan 2006 -- start dating

April 2006 -- 2nd trip, We get engaged; Sept-Nov 2006 -- 3rd trip, More time together

Feb 8, 2007 -- Mailed 129-F package to VSC

Feb 13 -- NOA1!

Feb 19 -- Touched

Feb 20 -- check cashed! NOA1 arrives snail mail!

Feb 22 -- Touched

Mar 8 -- NOA2 email!

Mar 12 -- NVC recieves

Mar 15 -- NVC sends out

Mar. 26 -- Packet 3!

Apr 17 -- Medical

Apr 24 -- Interview, Approved!

Apr 27 -- Picked up passport

May 4 -- POE JFK

May 19-- Apply for SS#

Jul 13 -- Married!

Jul 24 -- Sent out AOS/EAD paperwork

End of Aug -- NOA for EAD and AOS

Sept 6 -- Biometrics

Sep 21 -- Email that AOS app was transfered to CSC

Sept 24 -- Email that EAD is on its way

Oct 10 -- EAD card recvd

Nov 10 -- Email that AOS APPROVED!!!!! (no interview)

Nov 16 -- Green card arrives in mail

You will require a long-form birth certificate (showing child's name, birthdate, and names of both parents) for the child as well as a certified letter from the other birth parent giving their permission for the child to move to the U.S. with you (unless you have sole custody of the child).

You can obtain both of these ahead of time so that you are prepared for the interview.

Dec. 4/07... I-751 sent to NSC

May 23/08... 10-Yr. PR Card arrives in the mail

Mar. 22/11.... N-400 sent to AZ

June 27/11..... Interview - PASSED!!!

I lived in the UK and have sole custody of my son. His father had no parental responsibilities over him, yet I still had to get a notarised letter from him saying he gave his permission for my son to leave the UK and live permanently in the USA.

But do you think its going to be harder for a father to take the kid, even with permision from the mother? Would a letter be enough, do they also want to see that he has custody of the kid?

My husband has been sole provider for his daughter since she was 4 months old and her mom moved back to her country. I was told that he has to go to court and get papers saying he has sole custody of his daughter and the mom abandoned her.

I am bringing my husband and my stepdaughter here to the USA also.

You will need a custody agreement AND permission from the mother. If you have both of those, I wouldn't have thought there would be any further problems. That's my personal opinion mind you, it'd still be best to double check your embassy's requirements on this matter.

My ex-husband would not give permission for me to bring my daughter to the US. Went to Court to obtain their permission to remove her from the jurisdiction of the Court. An Order was granted and she was able to come with me. It was seen to be in the best interest of the child and that is all the Judge cared about, her best interests.

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

I brought my son to the US from the UK - I was a single parent I still had to obtain a sworn statement from my son's father - living in the US and Jamaica at the time.

The US Embassy advised If I was unable to provide this I would need to go to court and obtain a court order

K1

I-129F Sent : 19th October 2005

Interview Date 10th October 2006 10am

Interview Approved 7th November 2006

Visa delivered 9th November 2006

Finally where I belong S.C with my man 19th November 2006 WOOO HOOO!!!

Got Married 14th January 2007

AOS

Sent AOS docs 31st January 2007

USPS confirm delivered to USCIS 06th February 2007

I-797C Notice of Action dtd 9th Feb recvd 12th February 2007 (both my son and myself)

Biometrics Appointment 1st March 2007

Transfered to CSC 11th April 2007

GREEN CARDS RECEIVED 9th July 2007 All done till 2009!!!!!
