Hello everyone.

I am hoping to be approved for my Greencard next month.

I am currently in Pakistan.

I would like you to help me with any information that you could provide related to taking my valuables and things that I own in Pakistan to USA with me. (tax free)

Can you please guide me, where to disclose all that I have in Pakistan which will follow me to US in years to come ?

And how much cash am I allowed to transfer. Is there any limitation to the amount that can go white.

Thanks,

Salman.

If you are talking about bringing stuff over after you travel, you don't have to declare that in customs. You only have to declare certain things and they would be on your person or luggage, not stuff you left behind. If you will be shipping stuff separately, the proper customs forms would be filled out at the time of shipping. Do not worry, when you get the customs form on the plane, you will see what it is you have to declare. This is usually things like alcohol, fruits, meats, and money over a certain amount.

This does not constitute legal advice.

Umm .. I am actually talking about the used stuff I have got. Like the furniture I use, the floor rugs i have got .. Which will need a container for shipment .

I heard, at the port of enterance we have to ask for a form to list down the things I have in home country, which will be following me to US in years to come. And all that I will list will be tax free.

Where do I do all this? Where will I get the form this is what my question is .

I myself was confused about how to phrase my question .

Thanks for your response . Kindly help me with this as well.

Like I said before, if you aren't traveling with them now, you don't need to declare it in customs. When you do have them shipped, you should be given a customs form by the shipping company to fill out. You can't declare things to the CBPO that you don't have with you. You shouldn't be charged duty on things that you own whether you bring them with you or ship them later.

This does not constitute legal advice.
