My fiancee was originally scheduled to have her interview in Islamabad on September 5th. But we only had 9 days notice before the interview so she had to quickly do her medical exam.

The doctor told her that since she had had TB seven years ago that she had to do another TB test - and that test would take 2 months... (it will be back on November 4th).

The doctor told her that she would contact the embassy and let them know she wouldn't be able to make the 9/5 interview. I have also sent several emails to them about it and filled out the contact form on the Islamabad embassy website. But I haven't heard back from anybody.

The afternoon her interview was originally scheduled she got a call from someone at the embassy asking why she hadn't shown up at the interview! She told him why and he said okay and sounded like it was fine since she had a good reason.

But I'm worried because we haven't heard from anyone since. And I also wanted to know if it's possible to request a new date now since we know when the medical test results will be back. Could we try to schedule it now for the week after that - or whenever the next available time is? And how would we do that.

Thanks for any insights you can provide!

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that, seems like your wife just undergone sputum exam. You can always call her embassy and tell them what was the reason of why your wife didn't show up then get another interview date that's convenient for you and that is available! Good luck!

Thanks mrsleman07. But we can't call the Islamabad embassy. Some guy answers the phone who is very rude and says "YOU CAN'T CALL HERE!" And their website says no phone calls too. (And yes, it's the sputum test).

oh wow really? I think it's a lil bit different to her embassy, a little bit strict I guess. Anyway, another instances is when you have undergone sputum test here, the hospital where you have undergone your medical exam usually the one that re-schedules the interview. I don't know if that applies where she from/

same as it is here, god bless you both!

Submit the form again and call on some other numbers at the embassy as ask to speak to someone at the immigrant visa unit for interview rescheduling. Also, submit the online form once or twice a week and keep it very polite.

07/27/17 - K1 packet sent at the end of day.

07/31/17 - NOA1

03/22/18 - NOA2

08/28/18 - expected date for medical completion - Sputum test was needed

09/22/18 - anticipated interview date

If they suspect that she has TB then they will have her go through sputum culture test. You should get the result in 48 days at Aziz Medical Center. They will immediately within a day or two carry her TB results to the Embassy and the Embassy will send you a new interview date with a day or two after receipt of the report. You do not have to reschedule the interview with the Embassy yourself. Usually the interview date via email is within the next 2 weeks because you got priority. Your visa will be valid for 3 months instead of 6. It is advisable that you accept the visa and fly to the U.S. in that time frame. Do not argue!!!

Haha!  Thanks @PAK123, but my question was from more than 3 years ago!  Fiancee got here a couple of months after I posted it and we've been married for 3 years now!  And have a baby son!

I hope your answer may help someone else though.

Well, that's a good reason!  And I will just confirm that what you said is very accurate - even to our experience from a few years ago.

The only thing that turned out a little different than what you said - AND what they told us - was the sputum test didn't take 48 days.  It was much shorter than that.  We were told that if it came back negative they might know sooner than 48 days, but they would wait 48 days anyway just to make sure.  But in the end I think it came back in a little under 30 days.  And that sped things up a good deal from what we were expecting after finding out she had to do the test.
