I've often thought about that, and you're right. I could never have the conversations I have here about race IRL, because I'd be shouted down as a racist. Same with the Israel Palestine thing. Anything but full and un-wavering support of Israel's oppressive policies and you're an anti-semite. It's a shame really because I think there's been constructive conversations here, especially about the race thing.

By constructive I mean when people agree with me on everything.

All joking aside, I think there's some value in having conversations in a semi-anonymous forum.

In doing so, they made their stand in trying to change what the public accepts. They had the courage of their convictions and did not change what they were prepared to say in public from what they said in private.

So if you think your boss does a terrible job or if you think someone at your office may have been hired based on their race, you would talk openly about that at work? What about your feeling on blowjobs and an@l sex? You cool with bringing that up in public?

Taking race completely out of it.

Anyone who gets the death penalty should have a public execution. I don't think it's effective hen you ait 25 years and do it in a closed secure room, with a sedative.

As a caveat, I don't believe it should be used unless it is an open and shut case.

There are no open and shut cases unless someone pleads guilty, and even then people plead guilty for all kinds of reasons that have little or nothing to do with guilt.

There are also good, sound reasons why public executions were stopped. Far from discouraging crime, public execution became a form of entertainment and believe it or not, execution as public entertainment is not deemed humane. Executions in the US are witnessed, they have to be, they are not performed in a darkened room with only the executioner present.

If you want to complain about how execution is carried out, you should really argue about it from a position of knowledge, not ignorance.
