Ok Ok guys and gals. So the interview was yesterday. It seems we did not have as good luck as last weeks crew. The interviewer was as American woman, and Hassan said she was really so nice. At the end, Hassan asked her how it went really, and she smiled and said "Your interview was good with me." BUT, then he got the dreaded, "we just have some more investigating to do in Washington- be ready we could call you at any time the end of this week or next." He was given his passport back with no stamp in the back. Another person we know that was approved, he received a stamp on the back before he got it back. Can anyone read between the lines here??? Should we be afraid we are going to get lost in the investigative circle and be stuck here for months more????

This sounds like the typical Administrative Processing. My husband also received a stamp in his passport at the interview, while some others do not. But he received the visa about 2 weeks later.

Did your fiance get a sheet of paper (the 221g)? If so, there should be some comment about further processing in Washington and calling you when it is complete (or something to that effect).

Find out if he got the 221g, then we can help you better.

Standard security/background checks. It's normal operating procedure in all ME/NA countries.

You may have the visa in a week or so, or it's possible that you may have to wait longer. But try to stay positive and not worry too much just yet (I know that's just about impossible, but try !) At least you didn't get any RFE !

Insha'allah you will have the visa in hand very soon.

This is definitely administrative processing...was he given a 221g stating Administrative Processing and/or Administrative Review? Have him scan the paper he got from the consular officer and send it to you so you can read it for yourself.

Also, you can call the Department of State to check on the status if you are on AP...they can tell you when it is finished. It really does sound like you will be fine, just need to go through the name/security checks in Washington. Really normal.

Good luck to you and congratulations on a successful interview!
