Just the typical inbreeding issues of any pure bred, and the hip dyspepsia you find in the big hunting dogs. I've known some pretty stupid ones, but that probably more reflected on the training given by the owner They do tend to be a little high strung. This isn't a lazy hound dog breed. If you haven't time to work them, they might start getting into trouble. Of course working them can consist of throwing a ball off the porch and waiting for him to bring it back.
