Our work changed to a new carrier this year. Price stayed flat, terms stayed the same, so far its appeared to be as good as the old stuff. Not that we have the best plan in the world though. I was prepping for baling out and buying on the private market with the same company we switched to. As we're a group, a few serious cases with some of the people working here, really pushed up our costs with our old plan.

My company's cheapest medical plan -> deductible $1,800 indv, $3600 fam. And 85% covered after deductible is met.

Ours changed too. They realized they were under charging the teachers so instead of raising the teachers to where it should be they raised the state employees. Our copays went up premiums went up and drug costs went up. We are switching to the high deductible, 12k family before they pay for anything and no drug coverage. They raised everything and now cover less go figure. I've been looking at moving back to Canada, if I can figure out how to get the mans PE recognized worked out I think we would be gone.

It's interior Alaska.

It would cost over $200 to do what we do with our plow truck. The last time I paid anyone was in 1987 and it was over $100. Twenty-seven years ago.

My dad has plows for his quads and a little suzuki side kick. I think he has one for the big dually too. They gets lots of snow there, not as much as Alaska obviously but it's a wet region in the BC interior by Wells Grey Park. Former gold rush area.

Yeah, we need massive weight on a plow rig. Just the driveway to the road is a quarter mile. But we have three buildings and need to plow big work areas. One area drifts and if you don't catch it in time then you have to bring in heavy equipment.

For the kids, this is big time thrills. Daddy's plow truck. Someone call child protective services. Donny met the first adult who cannot read as well as he can last night. Eighteen years old, and Donny is four.

got a call at noon that my ROC came back. So I drove there and told the guy that I checked on my paperwork and the address I put down was correct. So we opened the package and sure enough...there was so many zip codes and he was distracted (apparently because I am Czech and he just wanted to yap about that) and clicked the wrong PO BOX. At least that was for free, except for the gas I spent trying to get there lol.

All attempts to insert cost reductions into the ACA were fought off by insurance firms, healthcare and drug companies. So all it ended up being was an attempt to create universal access to health insurance.
