Ugh it's something i'm worrying about because I don't know who pays what, when we should call the utilities companies, or even that everything will be ready to close on the Many'th. We only have until the Many'th to change the closing date due to needing more time for the loan.

Niki-Bone, it's at this stage that your real estate agent earns his commission. He is the one upon whom you should lean, and lean hard, he man and see ma'am. Either he makes some arrangements or he tells you the exact procedure and timing, see ma'am. No need to self-sweat, no ma'am.

Still need to get a washer and dryer, still need furniture, still need a stove

Have you invested any time on Craigslist, looking in the papers for moving-sales, looking on-line or asking people about who reconditions & sells appliances, huh ma'am?

What does your realtor say about the utilities?

a question for your realtor, who is getting paid to handle these types of questions specific to your area.

Where's the +Many button, huh ma'am?

1. Went out and saw the "stunk" crossing to our side of the street, but a few casas down, stink man.

Taser? If you won't use a crossbow dart loaded with tranq, taser him out in the open, away from yer house.

here's something useful.

go get a brick of rat poison - put it in a sock, crush to powder. take out, mix with peanut butter.

it won't kill him, but it'll make him dehydrated and he'll seek water. I got rid of a family of raccoons this way.

you have big hispanic market? also a fav there.

hints on shopping:

hispanic markets have stuff you recognize.

indian/paki/desi markets have stuff you recognize.

must to go ethnic, to stay ethnic. :D

sure, not YOUR ethnicity, but that's not the point - you find many things elsewhere - the 'supermarkets' not cater to you.

hubs doesn't want to set up the utilities to the new house until we are done signing all the papers, i know they can do credit checks when you first get the main utlitlies... I start my new job on the tuesday so need to make sure we have everything after we move in. (it's all currently on right now, and I don't know if we pay the rest of Oct or if the old owners do?) I know he won't want to even spend a night without internet. Granted we have a few weeks to move so if we need to just sleep here until Monday, but sometimes utilities can take 1-2 weeks. (I'd assume it'd be easier since they're just switching who's paying, not any of the services. Everything is on currently except there's no internet. We don't have a choice who we use for electricity, gas, or water.)

i just twigged to something.

you don't have pre-approved mortgage and yer worrying about a credit-score hit because of an inquiry.

Right?

Well aren't we a little judgmental today?

It did come across that way, but perhaps she is immune to the general world of judgmental internet mommas in which practically every decision you make as a parent is crucifiable. *shrugs*

It may seem that way but I do have very strong opinions on that those facts. I know the USA is different than Canada from this. I knew moms that purposely gave birth in my hospital, about an hour from their own city full of hospitals because ours was known to be as drug free and as natural as possible. There was a shower in every room, 2 over sized tubs and every effort made to even reduce the number of epidurals. I know because I couldn't give birth naturally and never would be able to due to the shape my own body is, that it probably has biased by opinion on it greatly. It's something I wanted that I never could have.

What you end up doing for whatever reason is yours, and yours alone. I was, ever so not simply, stating my opinion on the frequency of unneeded c-sections.

Nice place. I checked out the menu, nothing I would want to eat there. Too many weird veggies.

I've never had a c-section, heck I never had drugs. One thing I noticed from Canada and the US the US doctors are more cut happy, and induction happy in the US then Canada. Of course their is always the bad on both sides of the border but I noticed the push way more here. I found ppl were very judgy of my going natural. They get all up on their high horses telling me I was trying to be better then them and how you don't get a trophy for going natural. It was nuts. I just didn't see the point when I was perfectly able to do it why not. I never rubbed it in their face or said I was better, they asked I answered.

Sorry you had a traumatic section/delivery a friend of mind did also she is still recovering from it and her daughter is 2.

Nope, it's actually safer to go VBAC for most women.

Nursing moms too

She's still to young for you

Ya she can keep her boyfriend over there too, cause if he thinks for one second he will ever be alone with her he's nuts :P

I agree, I noticed the difference even on mommy boards in 2003. It's not like Canada is even low on the c-section scale, but I think there are more in the USA than anywhere else. Largely due to malpractice lawsuits etc...

I don't think a lot of women really choose it the first time - it's more they get talked into it or worse bullied into it by the medical professionals.

I was aiming to go completely drug free when I had my little girl and was basically bullied into having the pitocin by a nurse on the overnight staff who just kept nagging me every 20 minutes from about 2am in the morning after I had been in labour for over 20 hours - she kept saying "if you don't progress any more you will just have to go home and then you'll have to come all the way back again tomorrow" and then really pushed me into accepting the epidural "if you don't have it now you'll be too far along to have it later" "if you don't have it now you won't be able to keep still enough for the needle later and then you won't get any pain relief"

It was relentless until in my exhaustion and aloneness (hubby was fast asleep in a chair in the corner) I just gave in.

I had nightmares about that night for months afterwards and I really wish now I'd made a complaint against the nurse. Luckily for the actual pushing bit a really lovely sweet woman came on shift and the horrible nurse left.

sounds like a horrible nurse. I had wonderful nurses! It really sucks when someone is just not the right fit for your birthing experience. I can see why many women are choosing to have midwives or birth at home in the USA because of all the pressure.

i just twigged to something.

you don't have pre-approved mortgage and yer worrying about a credit-score hit because of an inquiry.

Right?

We did have pre-approval. It was part of our contract even to have pre-approval by this private lender. But because "they" say not to buy anything major, sign up for credit cards, get any credit hits before closing, hubs is extra worried about everything.

Also, hubs doesn't believe anything is happening until it actually happens. Obviously he has been disappointed too much in life, and so thus decides that life has not happened until it does so. I prefer to think more positively, or realistically, whatever have you, that this IS happening and you must do what needs to be done for it happen smoothly.
