We haven't heard from the professor. Maybe he's in the G building.....

Professor is a busy guy this morning. Peaking in, but not catching up on the thread very well. Got lots to deal with this AM.

The wife had me buy a whole chicken so she could roast it with lemon grass. Usually we buy cut chicken, with the parts we want. She talked about cooking it, and I said plan ahead, its going to take at about 24 hours to thaw. Its a good sized chicken. Well yesterday she starts talking about making the chicken the same day. She wants to cook it in like and hour  maybe next weekend she'll plan ahead. She likes having a refrigerator and freezer, but sometimes the concept of how long things take to thaw doesn't really sink in.

So why not bring the plumbing in?

Those that can afford to put such stuff in, do so. But when they buy a cement house, a luxury many never have, they get essentially a cement box with a roof. The bathroom, or CR as they call it, has a hole for the sewer, and a sillcock for water. They will tile the room, and add a nonflushing toilet bowl as the first step and many never get beyond the first step. Next they may put in a shower. This will connect to where the sillcock is. This doesn't mean hot water! Next might be a tank to flush the toilet, this also connects to the sillcock connection. Toilet seats are a preference some will choose and others not. I should also mention that those who do have flush tanks on their toilet, may have it break and not repair it for years or ever. Same with a broken toilet seat, you see a lot of broken ones, and you see signs at public toilets telling people not to squat using the seat, as they get broken that way.

We Have those um....fresh kill chicken places in Brooklyn......

Tiff is home today. Maybe I'll send her to get a chicken......

I'd love to have access to fresh killed chicken. My wife could barbecue up chicken intestines then! Love those, but we never seem to be able to find the intestines to make them from in the USA.

our asian market always has:

1. fresh whole chicken for $4-4.50 depending on weight

2. chicken/duck/pig organs (intestines, liver, lung, etc)

i love that place, they are like a supermarket, but they'll cut up the chicken into 10 or 12 parts in the back room if i ask. perfect for chicken curry, yum!

i have had a hard time finding good quality, big cuts of lamb/mutton for briyani.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!

I tried asking about chicken intestines at the Asian market we go to, but the Spanish speaking workers in the meat department, didn't seem to understand me and just rattled off something in Spanish  Why have the south of the border types seem to have taken over as the workers in the Asian markets around here? The check out is still usually Asian, but all the rest appear to be from south of the border now.

They shouldn't charge so much for kids. Hope it works out in your favour for Christmas.

Or at least allow children to be checked in as baggage.

take her to an Asian market next time, pick out a live one, let her pick the feathers out on the way home, pitching them out the window.

My wife, like many wives, fails to heed the advice of their husbands at times.
