where did the OP say he was moving back to Europe? OP even asks if this affects his future application for citizenship. I would think that's pretty obvious he's staying in the US.

Huh! I could have sworn there was something about that in the original post. Now he's edited it.

It's either that, or my brain held residual information from another thread. But I'm pretty sure it was in there before he edited. I refuse to believe I am going insane :P

As for the I-864 - it's an awfully confusing piece of paper. We resolved to never have this problem ;)

You wanted me to prove you wrong, and I did that.

You think your interpretation is correct. The courts' interpretations are at odds with yours, and you still think there is nothing in the I-864 that obligates the sponsors to support the immigrant. Those judges must be idiots since you are clearly right.

Its true in some jurisdictions immigrants have successfully used the I-864 to win support. In other jurisdictions the courts have refused to consider the immigrant as a party of that contract and thrown out such suits. So much of this is based upon what state someone lives in. This is certainly not a cut and dried issue.

Single male, what benefits do you get anyway?

I have seen the I 864 being used a couple of times in divorce cases, there was mention of the need to mitigate your loses, get a job.

I have not seen a case where a male has used it.

so even if she call imigration nothng will happen to me or my green card she is only scaring me so im safe ?

Yes, she can do nothing to you, she cannot cancel her sponsorship now, she can not get your green card cancelled. You also have a 10 year green card, you have no obligation to prove a bonafide marriage again. You file for citizenship after 5 years of legal permanent resident status or renew the green card when its due to expire.
