I will be filing joint I-751 with my wife and including my son as dependent. I am planning to submit following documents:

  • Joint US Bank Account Statement Copy
  • Joint Lease for Rental Apartment
  • Joint Lease document for Car
  • Joint Deed for our new house
  • Joint Utility Bill Copy
  • Copy of Insurance showing my wife as beneficiary
  • copy of 401-K showing my wife as beneficiary
  • Copy of Indian Bank Accounts showing her as joint account holder.
  • copy of health insurance showing her as my dependent.
  • Copy of Auto Insurance showing her name with me
  • Copy if our Driver Licenses showing same address

are these sufficient or i need to hunt my friends for affidavit?

Remember that you need to prove bona fide marriage over the past two years.

So, you need to show joint bank statement copies over the past two years (most people just print 3 or 4 per year) with transaction history included. rental lease copies from the past two years, auto insurance renewals over the past two years, health insurance renewals over the past two years, tax return transcripts (you seem to be missing these) etc.

You get the idea. You don't require affidavits. Those are only needed if you don't have enough evidence of asset merging. Please read the I-751 instructions, as they provide a general list of evidence you should submit, and cover the essentials.

I am in the same position, i've accumulated the following evidence

1. copy of green card front and back

2. copy of green card holder's passport

3. Lease agreement signed by both husband and wife for primary residence since we married in 2012

4. full copies of 2012 and 2013 joint tax returns including transcripts.

5. copies of 1099-INT for 2012 and 2013 for joint bank account including detailed statements spanning the length of the marriage.

6. copies of joint credit cards include statements spanning length of the marriage.

7. copy of car insurance policy spanning length of marriage naming both husband and wife under the policy

8. evidence of life insurance policy naming wife as beneficiary.

9. electricity utility bills in husbands name including some evidence of payment from joint bank account. All utilities were in the husbands name, therefore, I have also included evidence of mailing to wife with shared home address. An explanation to this effect has also been included in the packet.

10. copies of 2012 w2s for both husband and wife showing shared home address.

11. copies of flight itineraries for december 2014 for flights home to see family for the holidays.

12. holiday card from in-laws from 2013 to both of us with our home address on envelope.

13. three affidavits, one from in-laws, one from sister-in-law and one from a mutual friend who introduced husband and wife.

Is this a sufficient amount of evidence, I'm not sure I can think of anything else to add to this already large packet of information.

This blogs are helpful but the posts about bad experiences are stressing me out, urg! lol

Advice/encouragement warmly welcomed!
