So I got my K1-visa :dancing: today but I still have not had the vaccinations required when I need to do our adjustment to status.

My question is can I go and get the shots i need done at a new surgery that i will register with,(in the uk) if so how do I prove that I am upto date with my shots when I apply for my ATS when I am in the uUSA.

or can I go back to the knights-bridge doctors, (London) have the shots done there, and they give there stamp of approval for the ATS?

or do I have to find a doctor in the USA who will do this for me

Ideally I would like to get them done while I am still in the United Kingdom

Thanks in advance.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Shame you didn't get them before your medical. Then you would be done for AOS with a complete vaccination form. You can get them anywhere as long as you get documentation of the shots and date. It's too late to get Knightsbridge to update your form. That had to be done before your medical forms went to the embassy. You will pay a civil surgeon in the US to do a new form. That is a doctor on the USCIS approved list.

What shots do you need?

Definitely have the shots in the US!!! It's only 10 bucks for as many as you need in any Public Health Center here in the US. And you don't need any appointment! Compared to Knightsbrige Doctors where you pay a fortune for each vaccine you need (they charge 45 pounds for MMR only).

I have to disagree.

Most in the UK get them free on National Health. Health department prices in my area are not $10. Chart on this page http://www.houstontx.gov/health/Immunizations/foreigntravel2.htm

Tdap- $58

MMR- $69

Varicella- $108

Do read this from someone who waited until they got to the US:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/462793-medical-again-in-usa-due-to-incomplete-vaccination-record/

Or this http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/461012-medical-exam-for-aos-after-k1/

These are just two examples of hundreds, from many countries, that I have read and replied to.

Wouldn't it be easier to put a completed DS-3025 in you AOS packet and not have to go through these experiences in the US? Some get very frustrated trying to find a civil surgeon who will fill out the immunization for for a reasonable price of $50 or less.

Ok my bad! I should specify the 10$ applies in California. I guess it depends on the state. We are quite spoiled here.

Of course if you can get them for free in the UK there shouldn't be a question to begin with.

However, I think Knightsbrige Doctors are extremely pricey compared to the service I got in San Diego!

Knightsbridge is a private doctors which is used by the US embassy for it's medicals and not a part of the NHS which is why there is the price discrepancy.

Can anyone advise me where I can get the shots done in a hurry? I have a new doctor and they say they can't do anything for weeks. And even then it's just a phone appointment with the nurse who does them so who knows when I'd actually get round to having them done.

Do you know if I can just rock up to any NHS doctor and ask them to give me the jabs? I live in Surrey if that help? I do have a car though and am willing to drive :)

My medical is booked in for the 30th September. When I wrote to them asking what I need, this was their reply;

"You need to have had a tdap (in the last 10 years), (tetanus & diphtheria),

2 x MMR (full) vaccines as a child, (measles, mumps rubella). If you have

not had these, you will need at least 1 MMR given to you within four weeks

prior to your medical."

Did you ask if you could just see a nurse for immunizations without having time with the doctor?

Good timing on you visa Medical. On Oct 1, a flu jab will also be required...start of flu season for immigration purposes.

Yeah, apparently the nurse who does vaccinations is the only one who can do them and she's very busy. My telephone appointment is on the 23rd. I'm a bit scared that I won't be able to get the jabs in time :/

You can't get an official immigration form done now. Knightsbridge is the only one authorized in the UK. That window has closed.

Your GP can give you a printout record, a little card, a handwritten paper...whatever they want to show you got shots on what date. Then you can take any record from you GP, Tesco's, an American doctor, an American health department, etc to a Civil Surgeon in the US. He will copy your shot record from any or all those sources onto one official immigration form and charge you a lot of money for doing it. Call and ask prices. They can charge whatever they want. You do not need another full medical exam, but many will insist. Keep calling until you find one that will only copy your shot record. Since it will be flu season by then, you will probably also need to add a flu shot in the US.

I don't understand the term telephone appointment. How can you get shots over the phone?

Anyway, you could move back your visa medical appointment. You've kinda jumped the gun anyway if you haven't heard from London yet.

Or pay for the shots at Knightsbridge.

Or get the shots at the GP after your medical, but tell Knightsbridge to hold your results until your GP can fax over the shot info. That's what my husband did. They mailed the DS-3025 photocopy after they had filled it out with the new shot info and signed off.

Or get the shots after the medical but don't hold the Knightsbridge results going to the embassy. Then pay the Civil Surgeon in the US to do a form for AOS and hope you find one that doesn't insist on a full medical, blood tests, TB skin test, etc.
