HI, my fiance will be coming to America soon from Vietnam. Has anyone found that one airline is better than the other as far as providing assistance to her eg. switching flight, guidance to next flight, ticketing. She has never flown before and I want to use my vacation time off from work once she is here. I flown there on American and had to switch planes in Japan, when I exited off the plane there was a lady holding a sign with my name and took me to the connecting flight on JAL. Needed that because I was never there before.

OP,

Out of simple curiosity, which airport is she transiting through?

Our experience has been that both inflight and ground staff were more than helpful in directing us to the proper location if a plane/gate change was required. Normally, the flight attendants have flown a particular route so many times it becomes rote to them. If they don't continue onward, they'll have knowledge where she'll need to go.

The same thing goes with ground staff. Right as soon as she exits the plane, have her go to the counter at that particular gate and ask the staff there. It's almost always staffed and they'll be able to direct her.

Hopefully it will be an uneventful flight and soon you'll be together. Good idea saving up your vacation time for her arrival; I did the same.

Narita is an incredible airport and honestly, if she considers some of my suggestions she'll have little problem making her way around.

We fly to SE Asia every winter for 3 months......Our airline of choice is Korean Air.

They've got a pretty decent luggage allowance and great policies regarding changing flights.

We walked into their offices in Bangkok and were able to change our flights with no penalty.

I'm sure they fly from Saigon.
