How much does age matter?

Hello- my fiancé and I are getting ready to send our packet but there's one thing that is still nagging me. I am 35 and Matthew is 21- to is obviously age is not an issue because we fell in love. Just a little background- I met Matthew May 17th of this year while he was visiting friends in my hometown. We fell in love quickly- but he has met and spent time with my entire family and I also went to meet his family in August when he had to return to England. Neither if us have previously been married, neither of us have a criminal history, and we meet all of the qualifications for income, etc. I guess my question is...will our age difference and seemingly shorter courtship be an issue? I am very nervous about this process and just want some peace of mind. Thank you for all the help you've already given me that you don't even know about

I am 43 and my fiancé is 24, turning 25 in November. Our I-129 F was approved in 6 months. I only suggest that you take many pictures showing the love connection that you truly have for each other. I have been to my fiancé's country 10 times this year. We have over 1000 pictures in different cities thru out her country. The way we look at each other and smiles that we share in these pictures show a strong love and bond. I have pictures with her family and everyone is very happy about this union. I wish you luck and hope that I was able to answer your question.

For Western countries, 10 - 15 years is not really much to bat an eyelid over. Over 20 years and I think perhaps it might come up, but would likely not be insurmountable with sufficient evidence.

In countries like the Philippines, which has a slightly creepy older man / younger woman culture, it wouldn't even be noticed. Cultural norms are different in different parts of the world, as I am recently reminded.

No. It won't be an issue at all. US embassy in London is well known here on VJ as an easy one. Good luck and keep us posted!

Age difference of 14 years should not be a problem for immigration purposes even though in your case it is the female ( I made the assumption from your name. I apologize if I am wrong) that is older.

At 35 I am sure you know what you want in a life partner, he on the other hand is barely out of school. Is he really ready to settle? I am sure this question or similar have crossed your mind.

By the way there is an eleven year difference between my wife and I. Me being the older. Yet I had a lot of growing up/maturing to do for marriage, and I am still learning from her.

Good luck in your visa journey, marriage and life together.

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

Dave Allen.

There was a thread started on this no too long ago http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/512982-love-has-no-age-limit/

I am 12 years older than my fiance. For some reason, evidently due to child bearing, society takes a different view of older women/younger men than the older men/younger women. In my opinion, its kind of sexist, but that's the way it goes I guess. As far as consulate views that remains to be seen, with my case anyway. We will have had 3 visits together by the time of his interview and plan to show plenty of pictures and relationship proof. We have everything in common despite what society views as our differences.

I am 31, and my fiance (husband in 2 weeks) is 24 (25 next week :luv: ). Our K1 visa was approved, and issued. He entered the US on the K1 visa last week! So your age difference shouldn't raise any red flags, and likely won't raise too many eyebrows either. A lot of young men who have older parents, or a parental unit where the mother is older than the father tend to prefer older women, as we're more mature and grounded, which is what they've grown up around.

Luckily for me, I look younger than my fiance does (Good french Canadian genetics) and that says a lot, because he looks 19-20! People often ask me what high school I go to.

Thank you all for the encouraging words- you don't know how much it helps. And obviously we wouldn't be going trough this hellish process to be together if we weren't sure that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together ? It's so nice to have this forum to speak to people who have gone through the process- so I thank you so much

Yes I hear these same words " more mature less games". younger men want a woman who has her life together. I'm also French Canadian and look much younger! Definitely good genes!
