We were approved 28/8/14 and our case is now en route to the NVC. got real. Fast. I'm feeling SO overwhelmed at how real all of this is suddenly getting and our interview date will be soon. The reality of saying goodbye to 30 years of my life in England is terrifying! Anyone else feel like this?

Don't get me wrong, I'm stupidly excited too and 11000% sure it's what I want! I get to marry my soulmate and best friend. Just overwhelming that it's all finally happening!!!

Hello!!! What you feel is normal , it can be a little scary to leave behind the life we had, i am from México, i wont be crossing the ocean like you, but still I will be leaving family, friends, and the job I have had for 6 years. Then I remember this is what I want with all my heart and what I have been praying and waiting for since January when he proposed. Best luck in this part of the journey! You will soon become Mrs. Love of your life!!!

Philippians 4: 6-7. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

I think it's perfectly normal to feel emotional. I had my interview back in May and fly out next Tuesday. I would have gone sooner but a number of things have kept me here until now. It seemed such a long way off when I first booked the ticket and now time is flying by and it is overwhelming. Super excited about the next part of the adventure but mixed with a sense of sadness at the goodbyes!

Good luck with the next stage :-)

My transition from Britain to Americahttps://abitofenglishblog.wordpress.com/

I am flying out in two weeks, and feel similarly overwhelmed. I am of course very happy to be making the move to be with my fiance, but at the same time I am very sad to be leaving behind my best friends, who I have known for almost 20 years. They have set the bar very high for my new US friends.

Still, all change is good :)

Sabrina,

It's understandable. I know. I've walked in your footsteps. The important thing is to be sure this is what you want to do. The romance of the situation is different from the reality. You are leaving everything you have ever known - its like walking onto a blank page. However if you are sure, 'don't look back'. Take each day as it comes and see your future as a new adventure. Take it from someone who has been in the US for a little over 5 years.

I'm starting a 'meetup' group for new 'ex-pats' and 'old' - I wish I could have found one when I came here. This doesn't mean to say I didn't want to make American friends. It's just nice to share experiences with other women, especially as many, like myself, felt quite isolated while waiting to adjust status (ie green card). It's a pity you won't be nearer to my location as I'd invite you to join us.

The letter confuses people. It goes to NVC. Then NVC gives it a new Dept of State case number and forwards the file to the consulate.
