Well this is what I mean - it's part of the VJ race-bait merry-go-round. All this story reflects are the prejudices of the people who comment on it.

We can acknowledge that racism is repugnant and that these teens behaved in an outrageous way - without making it into some circus about people's views about black people.

Firstly, since I'm on your ignore list, I presume that you wouldn't be interested in my replies anyway so quite why you are responding to a point I raised makes little sense to me. Here's a hint for you - if you're going to ignore someone, then follow through with it. Posting replies to my posts via other member's responses is a bit like those parents who can't talk to each other and get their kid to translate for them.

Secondly, there is zero debate from me that the attack was racially motivated - that's solely on the individuals who perpetrated it. It's not on other people to find justifications for that behaviour (because there aren't any) or for others to use it to justify their own biases (because they were bigoted to begin with).

Jannelle, I don't think the majority, even in this mob were beating the man for any other reason than they were part of a mob following what the first stupid person did. I think a group of any race are equally likely to follow along and do something just as stupid to another human being.. We are witnessing human behavior, not "black" behavior: The first one or two that start the violence are the real problem but that does not excuse the rest for following in and taking part.

Whats bothersome to me is the usual conversation - It does not matter the crime - we know were 90% of the people are going to come down without even having to know what happened. One line of lip service "oh this is terrible" and then the usual spewing of their viewpoint over and over.

This is a crime, This is a racially motivated crime. This crime means nothing overall about any particular race or individual.

That's going to be true when this happens again and the race is reversed only those spewing the "It means nothing" line this time will say just the opposite. Hence me calling them hypocrites.

I love how a random assault at a supermarket is used to justify a spurious pro-gun agenda. It seems it's almost a religion to some of these people.

And that random assault occured in TN where you'd find many people with a concealed firearm. And in stark contrast to the NRA propaganda, the fact that many conceal carry a firearm in any given area doesn't seem to be much of a deterrent to a crowd like that.

I still see no one saying all black people are racist. The black people in the video that are attacking and encouraging the attack, however, are. And deserve to be called on it.
