There has been a marked increase in calls for domestic violence related assistance since thug Ray Rice punched his fiancee so hard on an elevator that he knocked her unconscious. Unfortunately, most of those victims will not have the privilege of having a video depicting the thug man punching a woman as those produced in the Ray Rice case. Let's hope this case will help bring awareness to this problem that is far too often overlooked and excused in the black community.

The National Domestic Violence Hotline has seen an 84 percent increase in phone calls in the two days since a video leaked of former NFL player Ray Rice knocking his then-fiancée unconscious in an elevator.

Katie Ray-Jones, the CEO of the hotline, said it normally receives 500 to 600 calls a day from domestic violence victims and their concerned friends or family members. But after the Rice video was circulated online Monday, the hotline received over 1,000 phone calls. The numbers continued to climb on Tuesday.

"We had an outpouring of women saying, 'Oh my god, I didn't realize this happened to other people.' They thought they were living a life that was very unique to them," Ray-Jones told The Huffington Post. "One woman called in who is married to a [mixed martial arts] fighter. She said, 'I just saw that video, and I know my husband could do worse, and I need help."

If a grown man is following a teenager at night, without identifying himself nor trying to defuse the situation, there's two options. Fight or flight. If GZ at any point tried to talk to TM before the fight, and TM started wailing on him, you'd be 100% correct. But he didn't. He treated TM like a criminal before TM did anything wrong.

What's funny here is the people here who are pro GZ are also pro gun and have said they would blow someone away if someone even looked at them wrong. But in this case, show the utmost restraint. Slim, who keeps a small arsenal in his car, and quick to cuss out cops for even putting their lights on him, basically said TM should have stopped and asked GZ to come home with him for milk and cookies.
