It's sad because a group of black people sought out a few white people and beat them. It's sad because at least two black girls were on video laughing about the fact that they "got a white dude". Not all black people will be judged upon this act, but it's very obvious that some black people deserve to be judged by this act, just like criminals of all colors do.

The entire nation would be in a state of rage if the colors were reversed.

They should be judged. And charged as criminals.

I agree. It would have gotten more coverage.

If the colors were reversed, lostinblue wouldn't have been the one to post the story.

The behaviour should be criticised on it's own merits - there's no reason to bring race into it at all.

Let's be consistent here. It is very obvious that race played a roll in this attack. If the shoe were on the other foot everyone would be outraged by the "racist beatings" and "hate crime".

They got them selves a white dude... Not racist at all.... just black folks having a little fun ..Looks like that one black fellow has done some polar bear hunting before. You know that one trying to kick in the white dudes face. Everyone else just dancing and whooping it up. High five each other . Of did you not watch the video.

Not just random at all Gets back to who needs a gun while shopping at a supermarket.

You do realize a black man stopped them right? And did you see the other white guy walk out of the store. They didn't attack him. hmmmm

The same could be said for a few other posters here as well. This was not posted by the usual people who post race threads when the colors are reversed.

I'm not disputing that, just whether the conversation should be about abusive teenagers, rather than abusive black teenagers.

I think the video makes that pretty clear. They were not seeking out black people to beat on.

Well again, I'm not disputing that.

I just think the need to identify the race of the participants in a violent assault, even one that is racially motivated, only serves to underline people's prejudices.

I'm saying this coming from a country where we have youth gangs - both black and white. They are uneducated, angry and yes - racist. That stuff comes from their background and how they were brought up. It's not specific to blacks or whites, but rather to the urban poor.

Personally I'm outraged by it. And if the shoe was on the other foot, there would be folks telling me how this isn't all white people and I should just get over it.

No.. Someone like you would have posted it because it would have been deemed important.

No worries, It will be gone in a day and never talked about again.

How would you go about describing a racially motivated attack without mentioning the race of the people involved?

I agree that education, economics and family background play a role in instances like these. Typically the most violent people are those who are less educated and, broken families, and lower income households.

Well this is what I mean - it's part of the VJ race-bait merry-go-round. All this story reflects are the prejudices of the people who comment on it.

We can acknowledge that racism is repugnant and that these teens behaved in an outrageous way - without making it into some circus about people's views about black people.

The same you do anything else. Respectfully. I think the attack is messed up, and the assailants should be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the law. If race is going to come into it, both sides need to be addressed.

Probably not. I don't post anymore and I likely never would have heard about it in the first place.
