Well the VA tech shooting happened in april 2007. I didn't join this site until October 2007 and didn't wander into the off topic section until spring 2008.

I don't hear much about Trayvon anymore on here. I don't see how anyone could compare him to Lanza or Holmes.

He wasn't compared. His character and history were attacked more than theirs, though, which is insanity. Nobody went digging into a mass murderer's history to prove what a sh*tty person they were. But Trayvon was a no good thug and Zimmerman was "taking out the trash", as some here said.

They were good people. Just misunderstood in ways we can't comprehend. But Trayvon was a bad seed who had a future of robbing and murder already laid out for him, so he was destined to meet a bad end.

I remember Holmes and Lanza's backgrounds getting explored. Holmes just didn't have much of a background with the exception of dropping out of school and a few discussions with a campus physician.

Travyon and Zimmerman had to have their backgrounds explored because the lines of victim/assailant were blurred.

Travyon and Zimmerman had to have their backgrounds explored because the lines of victim/assailant were blurred.

I believe in the Lanza case, more was made of the Mother and why she allowed her son with mental problems to have access to firearms and took him to the range to shoot. As for Adam Lanza's background, it was checked, but there really wasn't much there.

TM's background was similar to some of the members we had posting here. Yet he was an animal that needed to be put down. GZ has a criminal record and has continued to have run ins with the law, yet he is defended and the women are branded liars.

Holmes and Lanza are never referred to as the lowest common denominator of society, even though they were cold blooded murderers. TM was called all that and more, yet he didn't kill anyone.

He was portrayed as some innocent child who was minding his own business skipping home with his bag of Skittles and Iced Tea when a maniac with a gun shot him dead for no reason. I don't think there were many that portrayed Lanza or the nut in Aurora as some innocent victim.

That's the difference.
