It could also be that the parents are present but are either abusive or have some sort of substance abuse problem. IMO that has a stronger impact on how someone turns out that the parents not being there at all.

I would say the chances of that are very good in this case and in most cases where a good parental influence is absent from a child's life.

No question for me what the major part of the problem is in this case. No parents = No Morals & No Structure.

I have posted this opinion many times and have been called racist over it.

Again, because you only seem to point it out when the person in question is black.

After a mass shooting in a movie theater or school, I don't see you or anyone else showing up asking whether or not the guy's father was in the picture.

Perhaps you were misunderstood. This statement could only be considered racist if you were to imply that abandoned kids and lack of morals were an exclusive trait of any one specific ethnic group. As it turns out you find abandoned kids across the board of the racial spectrum, but I don't need to tell you that, taking into consideration the flag you display under your avatar.

Perhaps you misunderstood the poster and he/she was referring to Asians? Wouldn't it be kind of 'kettle/pot' situation to have someone with Asian connections making those statements about black Americans?

Isn't it obvious? Those folks are clearly mentally disturbed.

Menatlly disturbed and mirror challenged, I'd say....

What's worse are the comments here and IRL are tame when it's a non-minority shooter. Except for the folks here that see past a person's ethnicity, there's very little or anything negative said about them.

I'm pretty sure it was brought up in the sandy hook shooting. but, it was immediately blown off & blamed on the guns. the theater guy was an 'adult', at least he was away from home at college.

Blamed on the guns? Really? I remember it being blamed on mental illness in both cases. As usual when the murderer is white.

The only issue with the guns is how damn easy they are to get for the obviously mentally disturbed.

Blaming guns and blaming easy access TO guns are not the same thing, no.

Either way, neither of the people I'm talking about were black, so nobody called them thugs and nobody questioned why their father didn't love them enough. They were just mentally ill and in need of help.

We live in a country where you can literally gun down kindergartners and never be called a thug but if you get shot dead in the street and you may have tried weed once, the word 'thug' applies.
