I've read this page http://www.visajourn...php/NVC_Process that Saylin made. It is pretty much comprehensive and a great help.

Just a little clarification tho to make sure of things before sending of the AoS packet, in Step 4 it says "Don't forget, it's highly recommended you write your case number on the top right of ALL documents (except the bar-coded cover sheet and the cover letter). This is in case NVC misplaces one of your documents. If it has the case number written on it, it has a much better chance of being reunited with the case."

Question: Does this include the I-864 Form? Do I have to write down the case number too?

I did just to be safe. It seemed like a good idea since the case number isn't actually entered anywhere on the form. You can always ask a rep at NVC if it makes any difference; I'm guessing the rep would tell you it's not important and you don't need to do it. Then again, with the amount of paperwork they're dealing with right now, misplaced documentation could cost you another two months of waiting.
