Hi there. Recently my fiancé and I were discussing the topic of where to go for our honeymoon and I told him that I don't think we can go explore Europe like we intended to do until he gets his green card at least that is what I have gathered in striving to do research. So, if we can only travel throughout the US, I know some island are still apart of the US as well. I told him I'd like to go to Puerto Rico or Hawaii or somewhere in the carribean but didn't know if we'd have trouble with such travel?

Hawaii is fine while waiting for the green card, we're going there on honeymoon too :) Not sure about Puerto Rico though, since it's not (technically) one of the US states..

You can go anywhere in the US, as long as you do not leave the US to get there (I have heard, for instance, that US Virgin islands is not a good idea because you can accidentally leave the US part without knowing it.)

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

The problem is leaving the US for any other country, then having no visa to get back in. (Your K1 is void after one use). Hawaii is the USA, so no immigration entries issues when returning. Puerto Rico is fine as long as no plane changes where you are in Mexico for example and have to go through customs. Check the flight and don't venture into another country.

I read that going to PR or US Virgin Is can be tricky if you get an uptight IO. I would double check with the NVC. I decided we would just travel around the US by car and show him the sights. I, myself, have never been to the Grand Canyon, so it's something we both get to experience the first time. After he gets his GC, then we can go anywhere we want. I am not willing to take any possible risk!!!!

I wish you all the luck in whatever you choose

I know it's so hard with all the rules and such. I told him we can look into going to California or Vegas as there is tons to do there too. I'm from Florida so we can do lots there then choose one more destination.

Exactly! As I said, our initial plan is to go to Grand Canyon. I have a cousin that lives 12 hours from me in NM so we'll make a stop there overnight. Head on to Grand Canyon for a day then to Vegas for a day and overnight. I have a sister in Los Angeles so stop there for a visit. Disneyland, Universal Studios, Venice beach, hollywood etc etc. I used to live there so I know my way around. Then San Diego where I have a couple friends I haven't seen in years and back toward home with a stop in AZ to meet a cousin I never met because I didn't know he existed until about a year ago.
