next step after noa 2 + aos fee

hello everyone,

I am a bit unsure as to what step I should take next. I have received my noa 2, paid my AOS fee online, I see a cover letter I need to print and need to establish a sponsor by sending an i-864 with evidence. For myself, if I am doing this right, I have to fill out an i-864 for my joint sponsor and one for my petitioner ( he is unemployed currently.) I have also filled out ds-261.

on the cr-1 guide, it states this:

A few weeks after you have received your last Notice of Action indicating the approval and forwarding of your I-130 application to the NVC, the NVC will send your relative a packet of forms that you and your relative must fill out before your relative can be given an interview date with a consulate abroad. The packet will likely contain an Of-169 form, and an Of-230 part one and two forms that must be filled out by the intending immigrant.

So am I supposed to be waiting on a packet of forms? or do I print out two i-864, fill them out, include cover sheet + appropriate letters and financial evidence to the nvc as soon as possible? I am not 100% sure, and I apologize in advance if its a dumb question. With the mention of these Of- etc forms it threw me off. Do I need to pay an IV fee first? It is not invoiced currently when I login. According to the website I need to fill out ds-260 ??

Thanks in advance.

I think you're reading an old wiki.

Here read these:

The I-864 is a legally binding contract so they need to be signed by the people who's information they contain (not yours, the petitioner and the joint sponsor.)

That.. is extremely helpful! Thank you. I will print out the cover letter and assemble the aos package. I have already had the joint sponsor sign their i-864 and gathered their respective docs.

One more question.

I have six months of bank statements for my joint sponsor. They're all about 4 pages each month, should I make copies of them all? Will I need to have a duplicate of what I send in for the interview?

Are you doing EP or snail mail sending originals to the NVC?

If the latter then make a copy to take as one member at least has had an issue with documents not being forwarded properly to Montreal.

Strictly speaking, the petitioner and joint sponsor fill out the I-864, not you. You can fill out those forms if they provide you with all the relevant information; however, even if you fill out the forms for them, they still have to sign them and understand just what it is they're singing.

Snail mail. I wasn't actually aware that we could email the documents (if that's what EP is), it's good to know the option. I'll make a copy then.

Oh, yes. My wording was ambiguous but I really just filled it out as they provided alongside them, then they signed the end after reading the contract.

thank you for your help, everyone. I'm glad I can follow an up-to-date guide now.
