lacking vaccines / Medical Exam

Hi

I am done with my CFO and my medical exam. During the immunization interview, I was told that I will be given 3 shots but on the next day, I was only given one shot since the other two vaccines are not available. We were informed that we can come back on October 7 if we still wish to have the other shots and we can leave even without those shots. But I think, when I get to the US, I need to have those and another payment for that.

Taking the medical exam is really stressful especially you can see the people queuing for sputum so early in the morning. For those applicants who just got their results, you can see their sullen faces knowing that they can’t attend their interview as what they have initially planned.

Honestly, I was too nervous about the chest x-ray result since I opted not to have medical exam (even if it is free due to work) for 5 years. I even peeped just to see it but of course, I don’t know how to interpret it. When I get home, I searched the internet and compare what I have seen with normal chest x-ray.

When I arrived at SLEC, instead of talking to the guard, I went straight to the 4th floor as I was advised by someone who will undergo sputum. Thank God, my name is not on their list. So I went to the ground floor and approached the guard and he stamped my receipt “Immunization, proceed to the second floor.” I was jumping with joy and informing the people that I cared most about the good news. My family treated me and they were surprised how big my appetite was.

Thanks for this wonderful site and fellow VJ members who have helped me on how to prepare the things and made the process go smoothly.

So there is one more thing to do, the interview at the Embassy.

If you are still in the Phils by Oct 7th, and can easily go to SLEC to get the additional vaccinations it would be wise to do it, they are free with the medical.

Yes you will have to pay for them if you wait until in the USA

I will still be in the Philippines by that time so I would definitely go back and you are right, it will be wise to do so. Besides, we paid for that even it would cost me another travelling expense. Hoping no more long wait this time since I should be prioritized..

I would call them first before going there to double check if they already have the vaccines so you won't waste a trip in case they don't have it yet.

Even my daughter's pedia said that there's a shortage of vaccines for both kids and adults nationwide. Same with some prescription meds. Something to do with BFAD

While you have already paid for the vaccinations, it might be cheaper to look at it locally. I had my daughter take all her vaccines down in Koronadal. It is paid for when you do the the medical, but a plane ticket costs $300 round trip for her and my brother in law. Just some food for thought. Once you get the vaccination, get them to put the label on a vaccination form and keep it with you. When you go to the interview, take it with you and have them add it to the package.
