Hello. I was wondering if my husband needs to obtain a police certificate from Peru. He has no arrests but I heard you need to get one anyway. Does the consul a the in Peru require this? If so how does he go about obtaining one? We applied for the I601a waiver and was approved. We are now preparing the ds260 and affidavit of support.

When I received my package for my wife from the US embassy in Lima for my wife's K3 visa these were the documents they asked for: They all have to be paid at "Banco de la Nacion" first and take the receipt to each agency. Must have a DNI "identity document" valid for all transactions.

1. CERTIFICADO POLICIAL (Criminal Records): Buy the form at "Banco de la Nación" Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales with your DNI. Main office is located at Av. Aramburú 550 – Surquillo, hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 a 5:00pm. They return the certificate the next day. Must take the DNI not expired and the form with the paid voucher.

2. CERTIFICADO JUDICIAL DE ANTECEDENTES PENALES (Hudicial Cerificate of National Records): Pay at "Banco de la Nacion" and thern get it at "Poder Judicial through the Registro Nacional de Condenas located at Av. Abancay, cdra. 5, Primer Piso. Monday to Fridays 8:00 a 4:45 pm.

3. CERTIFICADO DE ANTECEDENTES JUDICIALES (Judicial Penal Certificate) - A NIVEL NACIONAL: Pay at "Banco de la Nacion" and get the certificate at "Instituto Nacional Penitenciario (INPE)" - Pasaje Adolfo La Jara 234, esquina con la Av. Caceres, Urb San Antonio, Miraflores. Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 pm a 4:30 pm.

I hope this helps you, good luck!

Another thing I could not see your timeline so I don't know where you are in the process, it would be a good idea if you update it so other people can help you as well if you have more questions :-)

My husband's I601a waiver was approved. We are preparing the ds260 and was wondering if the consulate in Peru required the police certificate. Can you request everything you listed over the phone or in an email. My husband and I are both here in the US? How long does it take to obtain one? Same day? Do you no about the medical? Same day as the interview or before? Thanks

Oh okay, but I am not familiar with the I-601 waiver process.

As for the police records, as far as I know the US embassy in Lima do require police records, those three records I mentioned before and they will be listed on the interview letter. You could contact the US embassy via phone or email and asked them so here is the link for the embassy information:

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Peru&cty=Lima

Read it thoroughly as it has information on things you asked too.

As for getting those records via email or phone I doubt it :-( They have to be done in person. My wife had to do all of them in person pay all three fees first at Banco de la Nacion and then go to each agency to obtain the certificates. All except the police records can be obtained the same day, the police record takes 24hrs next day. So I figure if your husband has to go back to Peru for his interview you can plan to be there a couple of days early and do this in person. I don't know if there is a way that can be obtained by someone else, lets say a family member with all the information. Maybe someone of your husband's family member in Lima can go and ask and see if they can do it on his behalf. The medical can take a couple of days. My wife scheduled an appointment with Dr. Melinchon (one of the doctors listed on the interview letter as well) and she had to go back to get her vaccinations the next day because they are not included on the examination fee and it was an additional 500 soles or so and she had to come back again. Most likely the doctor wants to make sure everything is done at least three working days before the interview date so they can prepare your seal documents that have to go to the US embassy in Lima. Once you have an interview date at the enbassy make sure to schedule the medical appointment way in advance as there are only two doctors listed and they seem to be pretty busy.

Another advise is for you, if you can travel with your husband for the interview it can be helpful. Mine was very straightforward and it was good that I was there, you can see my review for my interview date at the embassy here:

http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Peru

I hope this information helps you!

Jorge
