Question about US spouses living in Canada

When you returned to the US, does the US citizen need anything to bring their items back to the US to avoid paying duties of their items? He's been living in Canada as a PR for 5 years now and we're just wondering how it works if he brings a truckload of stuff down before I have my visa.

No duties on personal items, you need an itemized list of all contents of truck...I forgot the first time! You will have to export your vehicle I'm not sure if there is duty involved. When I moved back to canada from Florida I paid no duty on my car bc I owned it for over a year. You usually fill out a customs form and detailed approx value if items....mine was very rough. Should be no worries, and hopefully they don't search your truck.

My hubby is the US citizen and just moved 17.5K lbs of our stuff in several trips. No need for value of goods, just a general list of what is there. He had zero issues crossing.

Do know the vehicle import stuff tho. That mattered (we have a motorcycle, quad, truck etc...)
