There are really only three documents that matter - drivers license, passport, and green card.

I know when I got married (in North Carolina) the people at the courthouse said to just get a certified copy of the marriage license and go to the DMV.

As for the passport and green card, I would call Department of State and USCIS.

In my case, I'm a male, I changed my name legally and sent in a copy of the name change with my passport renewal. DOS might be the same with a woman changing her last name, just send a copy of the marriage license.

my 2 years green card its almost expring im going to send my ROC forms soon but i really want to change my last name to my husband last name... do you guys know how to?? how can i change my last name??? please help

When filling out the I-751 just put in your married name in Part1, 1a (Family Name) and then your maiden name in 2a. Once approved the green card they send you will have your married name.

You can also change your Social Security card and depending on which state you live in, you can also change your drivers license to your married name. Just bring them your marriage certificate. Then you can send those with the rest of your package.

Just wanted to add a note here

Or wait one more year, and when you file for citizenship get it all done free of charge with simply filling out the N-400 form.

Just wanted to add some notes here, you're probably already aware but you mention that your green card is almost expiring. Make sure you file BEFORE the green card expires.. just a friendly note, unlike AOS, if you do not file before the expiry of your 2 year green card they will order removal processes against you.

Good Luck! :dancing:
