Moms' Group Calls Out Kroger's Gun Policy In Unprecedented New Ad Campaign

The moms are taking the gun control fight to Kroger's backyard.

On Thursday, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a gun control group backed by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's considerable financial resources, will blanket half a dozen newspapers with ads meant to pressure the grocery giant to stop allowing customers to openly carry firearms in its stores. The ads will be displayed on the newspapers' websites as well as on a billboard in Cincinnati, where Kroger's corporate headquarters is based, according to the group.

The ads will contrast images of shoppers doing things that are currently prohibited in Kroger's stores -- such as eating ice cream and shopping while shirtless -- with images of people carrying rifles. "Guess which one" isn't allowed at Kroger, the tag line says. (Scroll down for full images of the group's ads.)

This is the first time Moms Demand Action has bought ads as part of one of its campaigns to convince a company to enact a no-open-carry policy. Erika Soto Lamb, a spokeswoman for Everytown for Gun Safety, the umbrella group that includes Moms Demand Action, declined to say how much the ads cost, saying only that the amount was in the "six figures."

You seem misinformed. Either:

A. You have strapped one to your phallus and are speaking from experience, or

B. You assume that all guns are genital extensions and are therefore sexist considering many women use firearms and have nothing to extend.

Not all gun owners are fools, but clearly some are and use the gun as a device to 'win' respect from their peers. In that regard, the gun can be seen as a ####### extension. That does not mean that anyone actually wants to 'extend their #######'. It means that it is a symbol of masculinity/power/prowess. These things can be desirable for women as well. Women can want to be seen as powerful, in control and respected. The problem is, that it is a foolish person that believes that the gun is what drives others to respect you.

When I CC no one knows it is on me..I don't want anyone to know. I have been to family gatherings and no one knew I was carrying. Gun owners don't treat their guns as play things, None that I know of.They shoot and they do shoot competition. None of this is a game as you believe. .. but I don't hang around the hood.. Perhaps they flash.and need a gun to prove their manhood. I cannot say. .. It is not done in the company I keep

I think if you asked most gun owners if open carry in stores was a good idea, they would say no.

Open carry was more about convenience. IE you taking a rifle to a gunshop or out of your car without a locked case and especially for hunters who might cross roads with one over their shoulder.
