I had my interview already, but I was denied because I needed some paperwork to give the consulate. The consulate gave me a paper explaining what I needed to send them. I sent it, they mailed me back asking for more paperwork and I mailed that in. They received it 31 days ago. They have all the nessesary paperwork now, but does anyone know around when I will receive either my visa and passport or at least something letting me know what's going on?

You can send the embassy an email asking for an update, when was your case file last updated? Is it still in AP?

AP = Administrative Processing

Ready = Ready to receive documents and set up an interview.

Issued = Visa has been issued and will be available for pickup soon.

Denied = Visa has been denied.

You can check your status on the CEAC website, using your Immigrant Visa Case number. I have a link for it in my signature.

I went there and entered my Application ID in and it said "No Status". It wouldn't accept the the case number. It kept coming up as invalid when it isn't. I already did my interview.

Why did you think they ask for your fiance's liquid assets? Is your fiance unemployed or on disability? Isn't that information provided in one of the Affadavit of support forms? I thought liquid assets need to be counted if one doesn't make above the $18,000 a year threshold. How would you classify the quantity of information (evidence of relationship) that you sent in the first time? A lot or a little?

The day of the interview we handed them everything including the liquid assets. I don't know if all the information got lost at the consulate, but they wanted it again so we sent it. We sent even more paperwork when we mailed it in.

that is terrible, punishing people for doing the right thing, Is your fiance employed? I thought liquid assets are counted only if one doesn't have income above the ~$18,000 a year mark.

What was wrong with the police check?? I did one with RCMP and fingerprints....is that ok??

I'm sorry you went through all this, it's bad enough we wait and wait

nothing was wrong with the police check. But they decided to make me get a new one because it took so long for them to mail me exactly what they wanted after the interview. I guess they wanted to see if i commited any crimes since the last police check.
