Change of CR-1 interview date

Unlike most here we're in no rush.

I filed the I-130 last year for my wife and now her case is ready for interview in a couple of weeks. Our situation has changed as I have just gotten a work contract extension in SE Asia for the next 8 months. We are currently living in Vietnam as it's easier for my job and way cheaper. Plus the wife's remaining grandparent is not doing to well so my wife wants to spend time with her.

If I had known I'd still be working in Asia I'd have just delayed the NVC part until we were ready to make the move to the US but plans change. I'm looking to reschedule her interview date to the middle of next year; this would also provide the unintended benefit of getting an IR-1 at entry. One less thing. I found all the forms and know how to do this with the consulate.

Anybody have any first hand experience?
