Hi there, my hubby's workmate is married to a foreign lady, and he commented that he did not have to go for the interview process for greencard, why do some people not have to go and others dont.

I guess I am just worrying about ours, worrying in case we dont have enough paperwork !!

While it's true that many applications for adjustment (marriage-based) are approved without an interview because on its face the documentation to demonstrate the bona fide nature of the marriage is sufficient, there is still a certain percentage of cases that are randomly picked by the computer to interview. In that regard, it can simply boil down to luck of the draw.

I don't know about any other service centers but for some reason CSC has been approving AOS petitions without interviews. Some do still go to interviews in the CSC area but I have seen a lot that have received their GC without, my wife included. I have no idea why they do this and couldn't even speculate.

USCIC forwards certain AOS applications (ones based on a previously filed I-129) to the CSC when the District office that the application would normally go to is backlogged (my guess would be more than 3 months). The staff there will review the application and will decide if an interview is needed or not (don't ask me how they determine this). They are trying very hard to approve all AOS applications within 90 days, so not doing interviews speeds things up.

So with a processing date of July/2006, it'd mean there's a chance of my case being transfered?

EDIT: I was checking and saw that actually, most District Offices have July processing dates.

I've seen some people who had an office with a 6 month processing time sent to CSC. I'm thinking that those dates are not accurate though, so it's difficult to tell how fast or slow offices are actually processing applications.

People in California and nearby states are not processed out of the CSC service center. All are sent to the Chicago Lockbox and forwarded onto MSC/NBC --->Local office or to CSC (both regardless of physical location). Its one or the other. The applications are not split like the K1 process.
