I am just curious, has anyone had to contact their state rep. in regards to their applications? If so how did you do that and did you ever get a response?

I did, for both my EAD and green card. Just type in your zip code on the website and your Rep will pop up. Then look at services they offer and if they have a pro-immigration stance. You'll have to contact them by phone or email and tell them why you seek their assistance, fill out a privacy release form, and they'll contact USCIS on your behalf.

In my case, I had a one-day turn around - a day after I contacted my congressperson, both applications got approved. However, if your congressperson is anti immigration or doesn't really care about the issue, then you might not have any luck.

Thanks for the information, while it will probably not help I am considering writing and just expressing my feelings in regards to this whole process I dont think its fair how some countries get priority when we all have the same intentions and pay the same amount!

Can you explain more about your perspective? I'd be glad to your feelings since most or all of us on VisaJourney are right in the middle of immigration and arguably have a better viewpoint and understanding than the general population.

For people like us that are following the process it's not some countries getting priority (well except for the Philipines auto-expedite for a typhoon almost a year ago). For those of us that are non-Phillipines, we all have the same priority but for some countries it just takes longer, whether it's background checks, consulate issues, or other issues. A country that is considered high fraud, such as Nigeria, will likely lead to more in depth examination. That's not a priority issue.

What's REALLY unfair here is that people following the legal process are subjected to a double standard compared to those coming in from our southern border who, if they get to the US, can often get a notice to appear and are released to do what they want even if they are gang members with criminal backgrounds. Meanwhile we sit here paying our fees and checking our mailboxes daily while being separated from those we love. The "family unity" the immigration activists and politicians care about only applies to those who come here illegally. Not us.

Well let me first say this, I don't agree with the auto- expedite of applications, they should all be processed in the order they are received. There are people that have been waiting for 6 months or longer I find that ridiculous. While I am not sure my concerns will be addressed I do think that I need to express them. TSC gets the bulk of the applications even though they are clearly behind on their work. Why is it that it only takes them 24 hours to cash the payment but 6 months to a year to process the applications? I bet if they had to wait to process the paperwork before they cash the payment the process would move a lot faster. My concerns expressed to my Rep. are this, if the US feels the need to auto-expedite then there should be a department that does only those applications or a separate service center, also when you call TSC you may have to wait for over an hour to talk to someone and even then you don't get a answer and you might even get a different answer every time you call. I'm sorry but I find that unacceptable for a Government agency to conduct business in that way. And If TSC is back logged why are more applications not sent to other service centers? For all we know TSC is full of employees sitting around taking coffee breaks all day.

While most people don't have the opportunity I have which is to go send the next few months with their fiance or spouse I find that the process is way to long no one should have to wait this long when you have people coming over the boarder illegally everyday. I will be leaving in two weeks and I want to at least express my issues with the way this process is handle, I am a firm believer that we have to hold the Government and its agencies accountable ad how can we if we just sit back and take what ever they tell us and do nothing. Well they will hear from me through my State Rep.

you GO girl! LOL :pop:

I dealt with the CSC and my original app took 4 months till approval, so at least that was good, I wish i had known to call my state Rep then, but when i did, to get a #$%! straight answer out of the USCIS about my returned visa file, at least they gave HIM a straight answer within a few days from first call, to received answer. so i highly reccommend any one filing to call their rep to ask them to call and inquire on the process. perhaps that will put a fire under their behinds. perhaps we can employ them to call the EMBASSY the day of our interview or the day before to enquire on our behalfs. Hmmmmmmm. :bonk:
