Getting passport stamp after AoS?

I've read a lot in the other AoS forum about people getting a stamp in their passport indicating that they are adjusting status, or something in that vein.

My wife is adjusting from a J-1 visa that she entered on five years ago. A couple years into her stay in the U.S. we met, dated for a while, fell in love, and got married.

Because she took my surname following marriage, I understand that future international travel will entail us traveling with her foreign passport, green card (when she is approved), and marriage certificate (is a notarized copy okay?) to explain the name difference (maiden versus married names) between the two documents. To add to the list, during the interim period when renewing a document (EAD/AP, conditional two-year green card, et cetera), there is the document (is it a NOA document?) that itself must be presented in lieu of the new card to show the extended expiration date.

Since I'm all about risk minimization and playing it safe, is there some sort of passport stamp as backup "extra evidence" of her LPR status in the unlikely event that her green card or our marriage certificate gets lost when traveling abroad? My guess is no, because she isn't adjusting from a fiancé(e) or spousal visa, but I thought I'd inquire to be as safe as possible.

Thanks!

They don't give the stamp very easily any more, so it is unlikely you will get it at the interview.

Also, you will not renew EAD/AP. They will be cancelled when the GC is issued.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Thanks for the info!

I'll forget about the stamp issue.

Regarding the EAD, I've read it can be renewed 120 days before it expires. Because our case is a bit backlogged, I'm trying to have all of my plan B's ready. If we don't get the interview scheduled in the next two months (which would be eight months after receiving the EAD), I would prefer to renew it due to all of the DMV horror stories on VisaJourney where people say the DMV employees don't accept the NoA renewal letter with extended expiration date, as they don't understand it and the document it refers to is already expired.

Am I crazy or would that be a reasonable backup for avoiding drama?

You will most likely get your interview and GC before then.

But, for EAD renewal, there will be no extension, just a new card when it comes. You apply early so it will be ready by the time the old one expires.

This extension letter is for ROC and not AOS, and you are confusing the two. Focus on AOS for now.
