Timeline for issuance

Hello all

Just a quick question... My fiancé was approved Aug 4 for his visa and it went into administrative processing shortly after. On Aug 28 the status was changed to Ready. I checked again today and it was updated and stayed at Ready, what exactly does this mean? Is there an average timetable as to when the visa can and will be issued?!?! Any answers would be helpful.

If you had recently made contact via phone or email it will get "updated" but if not then it could be a good sign.

My VJ friends and I have noted "close to visa being issued" trends like:

Creation Date Changing from the Original Date to a more current/recent (Same Day) date

Visa changing from Immigrant Visa type to Nonimmigrant Visa type (In the Header)

Status changes like - Ready > AP > Ready > AP > Issued

Example CEAC Changes from real cases.

07-07-2014: Status changed to READY!!

07-08-2014: Date changed status still "ready"

07-08-2014: Creation and status dates both changed. Also, changed from "Immigrant Visa" to "NonImmigrant Visa" status changed to AP

07-09-2014: Date changed status still "AP"

07-16-2014: Visa Issued

CEAC Status 9/6/13: Visa Status changed from 'IV Ready' to 'NIV Ready'

Thank You so much for the reply and the info... It was updated today to "Immigrant Visa" and READY.... just keeping fingers crossed. BTW.... do you know if it is necessary for me to fly with him upon his entry into the US?!!? I wasn't planning on traveling to the DR again unless it is necessary.

Sorry I was not logging onto VJ recently.. No you do not need to fly with him to bring him back he can go by himself... but you may want to consider it if you can afford to fly with him.. when we came through they were kinda crappy and basically gave us a stern-ish interview similar to the one at the Embassy and the guy really took his time time though we told him we only had an hour and a half before our flight boarded... by the time he finishes we were down to 50 mins and by the time we got out of the second room (after begging them to move us up in the queue - and being told we had to and if we missed our next flight we'd just have to deal with that with the airline) finally we RAN ALL THE WAY to our terminal... they were already boarding the plane and had called our boarding zone!!!

Which airport did you fly into. Maybe others would like to avoid that immigration office if possible

I wasn't surprised when I looked after guessing JFK. Just returning from overseas on a US Passport, JFK can be a real pain with some real "pleasant" people NOT!!! I avoid that airport if at all possible.

OP - Sorry you had such an unpleasant experience upon entry, but happy you both made it ok in the end. Grats!!

Hey Texas!! Thanks!! yes, we made it! And we are going through the next steps now! Football season is here and so is my new Husband... so it' swill be an awesome rest of the year!!

We had planned to go through ATL but the flights we took got us home before dark so he could actually see his new hometown...
