Dear All,

I just want to know if anyone has gotten visiting visa while F2A under review?

I am planning to get a visiting visa and need to know if it is possible.

You can always apply. It's very unlikely you would get a visitor Visa since you are showing you want to come to US. But if you have the money and time go for it won't hurt anything.

You can always apply. It's very unlikely you would get a visitor Visa since you are showing you want to come to US. But if you have the money and time go for it won't hurt anything.

If you end up trying can u let me know if you got approved? I've been thinking of trying too... but my passport is in the consulate since i had my interview last may, they're keeping it until PD becomens current again :(.... I'm afraid of getting my passaport back and paying for a tourist visa and end up not getting it.

This is an aproximate timeline, I tried to complete it trough the e-mails I still have, I don't know why I couldn't find all of them...

If one has the $160 fee to spend and a day off work to have the interview, then you can do so. It doesn't hurt your petition in any way, you just have to be truthful about everything. The chances of getting approved are very slim because when there is a pending petition you have to prove stronger ties than you would if you didn't have a pending petition. But it doesn't hurt to try if you are willing to risk losing that money. Also remember that getting approved for the visa DOES NOT guarantee you will be allowed entry in the US. The CBP officer has the final say and you have to prove to him/her that you will leave at the end of your stay. Good luck.

I applied for a B2 visitor visa for my wife while we are waiting for F2A visa. I even went and got a California congressman to send a recommendation letter to my wife's country embassy. Still they denied her visitor visa stating that while F2A is in progress, they don't approve any non-immigrant visas. You can always try, but its a waste of time and money.

He came very prepared with copy of his lease, copy of his employment contract etc... but much to his surprise, they did not ask any questions and there was no issues. They stamped 6 months in his passport

I had a pending F2A and i applied for tourist visa and I got it after 3 weeks. when going to interview be as honest as you can. take all kind of document showing you intend to come back to your homeland.

1/10/2013 : We sent I130 application to chicago

3/10/2013 : Application received - Priority date

8/10/2013 : NOA1 hard copy received

26/3/2015: Case Transfered to California

2/4/2015 : I-130 Approval

5/4/2015 : NOA2 Hard Copy received

23/4/2015 : NVC recieved the case

1/5/2015 : Case number and IIN assigned (Phone Call)

11/5/2015 : DS-261 Available and completed

27/5/2015 : Both fees were paid via post

28/5/2015 : AOS and IV package mailed to NVC

6/6/2015 : Scan date - Document received by NVC

5/7/2015 : DS-260 Available and completed

6/7/2015 : Checklist ( marriage certificate from another authority- i864 ( missing tax for 2014)

16/7/2015 : our new Scan date

12/10/2015 : 2nd checklist: NVC lost the resident permit document and ask it again.
