I received my RFE today..it's really weird because it's saying that my joint sponsor doesn't meet the poverty guidelines, but my joint sponsor makes more than 60.000$ a year. That should be way sufficient.

When I sent in the evidence I submitted his tax 2012 and the tax extension for 2013 because he didn't file 2013 yet. Do you think that could be the reason?hes working on his taxes right now..would it be ok if I just send in the taxes 2013 or so I need to find a different sponsor??

He is self employed so I did not submit pay stubs or a employer letter..

You actually need 2013 taxes. if your co sponsor cant provide you with 2013 taxes, then you will have to obtain a new co sponsor that has filed their 2013 taxes.

That won't be possible since he is self employed..but we're trying to get a bank statement also.

He can write his own job letter stating he is self employed.

I have a general question in regards to the affidavit of support. If the income from 2013 for my sponsor aka my spouse is not over the poverty line does that matter? Or do they just need to see that they filed taxes? Because at the beginning of this year my spouse got a new job making well over the poverty limit, and I submitted paystubs along with employment letter which states their current income and i had also put my little income on there as well working under my student visa last year, which in total adds up to about 30-40k (as we are both in school still) between the both of us. Should that be ok for the affidavit of support? Or do you guys think I will get an RFE to get a joint sponsor for it?

Wait to see if you get a rfe, if not then you shouldn't worry.

I think you should be fine, their main concern is that you've filed taxes for the most recent tax year & what he is making now, and by the looks of it you sent proof of all necessary supporting documents

I mailed my RFE response today, hubby is self-employed also, so he included a letter stating that, documents showing he owns his company, bank statements for the past year, pay stubs from companies that he has worked for this year, complete tax returns including 1099s for 2011,12 and 13! He over did it but he was so mad that we got an RFE that he's drowning them with a ton of paper ?

Did your RFE also say that your hubby didn't meet the poverty guidelines?

I have the taxes from 2013 now and a bank statement for the past three months showing the current balance and withdrawals etc.. I hope this will do too..

Yes it did, but he makes waaaaaaayyyy more than that. The RFE letter says " evidence of assets include: bank statements covering the past 12 months" so that was what we did. 12 months.
