Yeaaa I don't know if I am gonna do the walk in again. I mean from what I have seen it makes more sense to just wait till your selected date. Look at Stoaty they waited and they got their EAD quick!

I just don't see what the early walk in does especially if the benefits center has a specific timeline for each case. What do you guys think?

I did a walk in because my husband was going to be gone for the date they gave me so I didn't have a ride. But it's true my case doesn't seem to go faster. Everything is the same.

I guess it depends on how you feel about it, if you feel like you want to do it to be done you can try ( they could still say no ) or you can wait until the date with no problem when it's suppose to be done on their timeline for you.

I maybe would have just wait if the date they gave us was ok for us, I just didn't want to reschedule!

Now not wanting to reschedule is a GOOD reason for an early walk in. I think I'll just wait until my appointed time.

I am finding more things to do nowadays so its not as bad.

Ok guys, so i had my immigration medical exam done last week (yes I did not send it with the AOS package) and I was wondering if I should send it to USCIS right away or just wait for an RFE? I saw a number of posts on VJ contradicting each other with some people saying it's safer to wait for an RFE to minimize the chance of USCIS misplacing your medical exam while others say you should send it as soon as possible to avoid any delays to the green card processing. I send my package without the medical so that USCIS would start processing my EAD as soon as possible since the EAD does not depend on the medical exam :P

Before you freak out, it does say on the USCIS website for the medical exam form that if you are an AOS applicant you can either send it with your application package, send it later to USCIS or take it with you at your interview.

I quote from the web:

If you are applying for adjustment of status, you may submit Form I-693 in one of the following ways:

  • Submit Form I-693 by mail, together with your Form I-485, Application to Register for Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, to the location specified for your Form I-485 (see “Direct Filing Addresses for Form I-485”).
  • Submit Form I-693 by mail, after filing your Form I-485, to the location specified in your most recent communication with USCIS (for example, a Request for Evidence letter from USCIS).
  • Submit Form I-693 in person, at an interview in a USCIS field office (if an interview is required).

I am no expert, but I am the kind of nervous person that would wait for the RFE, especially as your goal was to expedite your EAD. I don't have any experience in the matter, I have just been overly cautious the whole time.

I'd say the same (and I looked into this in depth re the medical because I was suffering vaccine overload!)... given that your EAD is on its way and that's what you were waiting on, there's no real harm in holding on...

OTHERWISE- if your EAD hadn't arrived and you were looking to expedite the whole process, the consensus of advice on another site I look at (and what I'd do) is send the medical exam WITH your case number clearly written on the cover letter/accompanying info you send with it...

Finally! you might need to bear in mind given the stage that you're at in the process that IF your interview date is imminent and you mail your medical stuff closer to the date and for some reason it's not processed in time, you won't have it in hand for the interview

I guess you have to balance all that...!

I think if it was myself I would wait for the RFE so they know how to handle it.

If they send the RFE when you already have an interview date I would bring it to the interview.

All the people I've read getting RFE is usually a day or two after they do the biometrics then the letter takes a week.

I don't think we will have interview dates any soon so I personally would keep it until RFE because your forms couldn't be in Chicago anymore and in a RFE will say the exact address they want it

Exciting!!!! hope you get it soon :)

Haha that's right they always text around midnight!! You may even get the texts during the weekend. Their computers really have the weirdest times :)

Wish you luck!! and welcome :)

Oh awesome! :-) waiting sucks! Filing concurrently is so handy.

Got my middle of the night texts and emails last night, but didn't hear them/see them til this morning as there was an enormous thunderstorm going on at the time... Feel a lot better now, far more relaxed with the 'settle down and waits'...

I just checked the mailbox and squealed like a little girl. Biometrics appointment scheduled only a week away! Go figure my husband works 48 hour shifts on Monday and Tuesdays, so he'll have to take some time off. New Orleans is not somewhere I like to drive, 2 hours away and three kids in tow. I'm excited!

Our story...

Met online in 2006. Visited in 2007 for three months, found out I was pregnant.

Married June 2014 (L)
