Yeah, that's kinda my point. Its for sure that American culture and its becoming more and more of a "first world" culture. The Japanese, south Koreans, and Hker's are doing it albeit a bit differently. In HK, there's an obsession with school so people will spend past "0" to get their kids into the best schools. That's trading one principle for another ya know.

I see that here in the US too, among the Asian community. I was at a friends house a few weekends ago and one of the couples who came over was a old white guy with a beautiful and young and educated and English-speaking wife from somewhere in mainland China. I assume he has a big d, otherwise it makes no sense... but I digress.

So she's pregnant and we're talking about life with kids. I'm sharing what I know. She's very, very interested in what I have to say... which is odd, because I'm not used to that. Especially not when the topic is kids. But I digress again...

She asks me if we have plans to move out of our townhouse and get a house-house because this is America and not Asia and our kids deserve something they can't get there... space. Lot of space. Right?

I agree. I'd like space, I say. So I mention this rural-ish town which is still near a train line to the city, with affordable property. Get a nice house for less than a half mill.

She asks me about the schools. I tell her the truth. The schools are good. Not great. There's obviously better. But then you don't get the space and you don't get to close under 500.

And that's when she put her Old Asian Woman hat on and informed me that education is important and we must sacrifice for our kids.

I mumbled something, felt the need for more jalapeno poppers, and excused myself.

damn. that's foul. i've always been a bit upset that i was born with red hair that just turned normal old brownish. and freckles are the only bit of tan i have. GINGERS OF THE WORLD UNITE.

i've had a lot of coffee this morning.

I'm a hybrid. Brown hair, super pale, no freckles, speckled red hair in the beard. Which I hear is fairly common. Seriously though, I would not want to put my child through the planning/risks/failures I've had to deal with in my life when being in the sun. Some of the burns I had as a kid were a terrible experience. My wife on the other hand gets a tan from checking the mail. Which makes her mad because tan is working class or causes wrinkles or something. I dunno.

I wonder what they'll eventually choose. You should keep us updated. And next time bring enough jalapeno poppers for everyone.

No freckles. That's ok. The freckles ruin it for me.

i've been burnt to a crisp so many times in my life i've lost count. my life's mission in adolescence was getting a tan. i have never acheived that goal. i even used to go to a tanning bed. what's weird is that my dad passed his paleness on to me, but he's been able to get a tan since he was in his twenties, what gives?

tbh - i was very concerned my son would inherit my paleness. he didn't.

If Asians make more money and have more success because of hard work and diligence, does this chart also indicate the hardest working and most lazy?

you'd need to look at the jobs asians take in comparison to hispanics.
