Hi,

I'm starting to gather all the necessary documents so I can be ready immediately when I get my NOA 2. One of the requirements of the USEM specifically section e

OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months or more after reaching the age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, aliases or nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of those names. Country-specific information on how to secure police certificates is available on the State Department’s website at http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_3272.html.

Do I still need this despite already having an NBI clearance? What is it exactly and how do I get it?

Thanks

Well, have you lived in another country for more than 6 months after you turned 16? If not, then the NBI Clearance will suffice.

They ask this for the beneficiary...

I had to get 2:

-one from my country of citizenship

- the country i live in (i'v been living here since I was under 10years old and never lived anywhere else, not even in my country of. Citizenship).

It will be specified once you get the letter from the embassy.

Are you close to getting your NOA2, because once past NVC and to the embassy it will take around 1month... You have plenty of time :) to get the petitioner's document can take maximum a week if everything is good :)

The NBI clearance is specific to the Philippines only. As stated, if you resided in a foreign country after the age of 16 for a period of 6 months or more, then you will need to obtain a police certificate from that country.

However, be aware that not all countries will issue a police certificate if you have already left that country. If that is the case the US embassy does NOT require a police certificate from that country.

Did you live in a foreign country as noted in the statement?

If you need from other country it could take time so plan it well. It took us 50 days to get our Sinagpore COC and about 3 weeks to get Hong Kong (but only because she was there and could do it in person).

While you can go to the interview without these and get them later, that will slow you down by several weeks. Much faster to get them in advance and present them at the interview.

Ahhh. Sorry the sentence was so vague to me lol. in the provinces in the Philippines we have something that's exactly called a police clearance; where I have to get a purok leader's clearance so I can get a barangay clearance which I need to get the police clearance.

Since I never lived outside the Philippines at all I don't really need the Police clearance anymore right? (Sorry just need to clarify)

Thanks again

No, you do NOT need a local police clearance from your barangay. Only need the NBI for Travel Abroad (green paper).

The only stupid question is the one not asked. The only stupid action is failure to act, causing problems for your visa. We want your visa to be easy and smooth and are glad to help any way we can. Keep right on asking questions.
