JP,

If you are not Muslim then how can you judge? I do not mind them being judge but you clearly did not read the post. Have a nice day JP. I will no longer entertain your stupid post. You seem to love to go after people. I mean you are so good that I thought you where Muslim. So now I know that you are a know it all, I will just ignore you.

Well honey let I am not muslim. If you can't handle your posts being quesitoned then why do you post? You are going on and on about how knowledgable you are about Islam yet you lack the basic principles of it.

jp, i can't leave you alone for 20 minutes to go buy a movie (saw 3) without you throwing gas on the fire :P

How can you watch that movie? I am such a scary cat. How is the thrid one compared to the other two? I want to watch them, but I am just too scared.

First of all I am merely making comments based of off YOUR posts. That is not making a judgement dear, its an observation. Its not my problem that you frequently put your foot in your mouth. So basically you are saying that only Muslims are good people? That if I am not Muslim I am not good? You are freaking pathetic!

When you learn to have sympathy and patience, is when you can say you are a good Muslim. You have none, you make everything on this board, every thread, and every post about you. I guess anyoen that points out the contradicions in your posts is a know it all?

In a previous thread you were not able to congratulate a fellow member and went as far as to tell her you were not happy for her. Does Islam teach that? Maybe that is something you can learn from your fiance and his family.

Sorry but I am not happy  for you. Good luck with your future together. I am glad that you are not being tortured like some of us.

Here again you are showing how unpatient you are. His family asks you questions and that pisses you off? His Aunt is trying to show you something and you are so arrogant that instead of letting her, you just get mad?

To see my pray and he will try to explain something and I will finish it. I do not have much patiances for his family however, they like to ask thousands of questions about what I know. I do not like these kinds of questions and I do not answer them. They normally make me so upset but I think they are starting to get the point. One thing that I notice about his family is that they feel like if they do not see it then you do not do it. Which is ridicilous, when I pray is my busy. And one time I guess his aunt wanted to show me how to do wudu and I was so pissed, but I did not know what to say. I just got up and I came back to the restroom another time.

This was my response to you, I was merely questioning what you stated above. Clearly you have alot to learn about Islam. Even a Shiekh has things to learn about Islam, learning never stops.

Do you you see yourself as being that knowledgable about Islam that you have nothing at all to learn from your fiance? You may be knowldegeable in textbook things but what about other things? What about being charitable, being patient, being kind to your family? You weren't even happy for someone that recieved a visa because you don't have yours yet. I think there is alot you can learn from everyone and anyone. My uncle is a Pastor and is well educated in Christianity and other religions but always feels that he can learn from anyone. What about modesty and I don't mean the physical notion of it.

I thought when aunts and mothers want to show you something their way, no matter that you know it already, you take it as a compliment that they want to be involved with you, or at the very least you just go along because respecting your family is of the utmost importance.

You're pretty lucky. I know some Moroccan mothers who might slap your face if you ignore them when they speak to you.

As for your assertion that they don't know "basics" or they try to show you "basics", you do realize these are people who are born into a religion? They learn as things are passed on, it's not an academic class. 50% of Moroccans are illiterate, they don't read the qu'ran or hadith or analyses of religious texts. You might imagine a family would be surprised you do know things since you have been a Muslim 4 years and they've been Muslim for their whole lives. What is that? 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 years? And you have 4. Huh. I can see where it would make total sense that you know as much or more than them.

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.

Thank you! We're all refreshed and challenged by your unique point of view. Your ineffective imitation of good posting style only serves to illuminate your lack of good taste. Not very nice to attack someone for their grammer skills or lack of... I donnot happen to see where she verbally attacked you at any point. Also there are also many people here that English is not their first language. Does not make their posts any less worthy to read. I donnot see the point of some people here thinking it is their duty to find fault in others. If that post was intended as a joke, you forgot to include the punch line. Thanks again for your input!

What the heck does good taste have to do with anything? Really, if you're going to swipe things off the internet, at least steal something that's relevant to the thread.

I don't think aqoul was out of line asking Private if she's a native English speaker. It took me months to believe English is her first language. I, for one, am shocked she's in college, which means she attended 12 years of grade school, and still writes so totally incoherently.

No one cares if there are spelling or grammar mistakes, but when you can't understand ####### a person is saying most of the time, well, the question might be asked.

and so what if it annoys you when an old woman wants to teach you something. What harm is there in letting her show you something 100 times if it makes her happy? It a small gift to the mother in law- a sign of respect and love.

:help:

Not a convert; born Muslim 53 years ago. Masters and Ph.D. in the subject.

It is true that you can always learn something about Islam from anyone. I was taught one unwavering fact regarding Islamic knowledge: No one is considered to be knowledgable about Islam, despite their age, despite their learning, unless they agree with YOU (or your Muslim man). Otherwise you are seen as merely old and arrogant.

I learned that from reverts.

No one cares if there are spelling or grammar mistakes, but when you can't understand ####### a person is saying most of the time, well, the question might be asked.

Yes I am in college, I am going to grad school and I am doing well. I think you comment is a matter of opinion. This is not school and I do not treat it as such, so if you do not understand something I wrote then do not read it. Move on. I really feel like different cultures have different ways of expressing themselves. If I do not talk or type the way you prefer then find but there is no need to insult anyone. You guys have fun but I have to say you have me wondering maybe I should either write better on the board or not write at all. The people that understand me may come from the same part of the country I am from. I have noticed this too in school. Some teachers except perfect English while some do not care; and are more welcoming of expressive style and creatively place words.

I wonder if you have attended college at all. This trend was supposed to be about religion and converting. I simply said that sometimes my fiancé tries to show me basic things in the religion and it is annoying. (Also I wanted to express that he seems to be very surprised when he discovers that I am able to discuss a vast amount of topics concerning the religion and that the basic knowledge is present.) I also do find when people ask you over and over again about what you know and things of this nature to be offensive. I just ignore them or I tell them that I do not think that this is a proper question. You said something that as disturbing about mothers “slapping ”people. I believe that his family and I have a very good relationship. I did not speak out of turn to her as I would not my own mother. I just did not answer and if they continue I get up and leave. Respect goes both ways and culture goes both also. I do not have to allow someone to make me feel a certain way. But I do not believe that you nor anyone else would understand because of course you guys are not Muslim. When I am around a group of people that I feel comfortable with I believe hat maybe the way I communicate is different from what you may be used too.

I am so bored of “haters” already. I can not believe that Mr.Bush’s speech is more important to me than listen to this bs anymore.

Not sure if anyone is interested in replies to the OP at this point but I'll go ahead anyways. :P

I did revert/convert to Islam last June alhamdulilah!

It is the best thing I have done in my life and I am greatful every day that I was led to Allah and Islam.

After being with my fiance for a year, I started to get curious about his faith and decided if I was going to marry him, I should learn what I could about his beliefs.

When I first started to read about Islam I couldn't believe the things women and muslims in general were required to do! I was shocked and let me tell you I said it more than one time that I would neverbecome a muslim.

Never say never I guess.

After studying for 6 months or so, I knew in my heart that I was already muslim, though I had not "formally" said shahadah.

My fiance was very very careful to never influence me and only talked about Islam when I had questions. He had hoped of course that I might revert at some point, but he wanted to make sure that it was because it was something I wanted, and that's why he was careful not to try to sway me or influence my decision and thoughts about Islam.

When I told him that I was going to go down to the local masjid to say shahadah the day before I did it he was absolutely thrilled!! :D

Every day I learn something new and insha'Allah I will continue to learn and grow.

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5
