I recently converted to islam. And it was my husband that did sparked my interest, but he never preached, or pushed me towards it. At first I just wanted to know more about what drives the person I love. Within the next 2 years I found alot that I never found in anything else. So on my 4th trip to Morocco I converted.

It definitely isn't a good idea to convert/revert for anyONE person.....one should do so for the ONE and only God.....only after all of one's questions have been answered because Islam encourages that one questions things and does not encourage blind faith

Thank you! We're all refreshed and challenged by your unique point of view. Your ineffective imitation of good posting style only serves to illuminate your lack of good taste. Not very nice to attack someone for their grammer skills or lack of... I donnot happen to see where she verbally attacked you at any point. Also there are also many people here that English is not their first language. Does not make their posts any less worthy to read. I donnot see the point of some people here thinking it is their duty to find fault in others. If that post was intended as a joke, you forgot to include the punch line. Thanks again for your input!

In all your blithering and misfired attempts to be clever or witty, you miss the point entirely. It goes well beyond "grammar", but rather the content of her posts and piss-poor ability to articulate, and the arrogance and audacity contained therein. Clearly the irony of her proclaiming to be above needing to learn anything from her fiance, or any of his family, in light of her being a sub-literate cretin, is completely lost on you.

 lounsbury.. what brought you here? The simple-minded rubbish?

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world (Subhan Allah!!)

I am curious......what is it that you found in Islam that you say you didn't find in anything else?

Of course however my fiance and his family seems to think I do not know anything. Like pray and stuff. I am a hard core reader and I like to study topics and I study as my brain can take in. He was surprised to see that I was not a "newbie" I prefer the termed "seasoned" you know. To see my pray and he will try to explain something and I will finish it. I do not have much patiances for his family however, they like to ask thousands of questions about what I know. I do not like these kinds of questions and I do not answer them. They normally make me so upset but I think they are starting to get the point. One thing that I notice about his family is that they feel like if they do not see it then you do not do it. Which is ridicilous, when I pray is my busy. And one time I guess his aunt wanted to show me how to do wudu and I was so pissed, but I did not know what to say. I just got up and I came back to the restroom another time. It is crazy but I am guessing this is how Morocco is. I have only seen this with his fmaily but his whole family acts this way.

Do you you see yourself as being that knowledgable about Islam that you have nothing at all to learn from your fiance? You may be knowldegeable in textbook things but what about other things? What about being charitable, being patient, being kind to your family? You weren't even happy for someone that recieved a visa because you don't have yours yet. I think there is alot you can learn from everyone and anyone. My uncle is a Pastor and is well educated in Christianity and other religions but always feels that he can learn from anyone. What about modesty and I don't mean the physical notion of it.

For you info I nver said that I could not learn from him. You are something else. I really do not feel like this petty bs today so you have a great time thinking you know about me. And when this board becomes the proper english fourm let me. People are so funny. Nice try.

I was wondering the same. I mean, it seems there are some things you've left out of your learning process, like deference and respect for people older than you, or even for your family. They must be so insulted, not only as Muslims, but as Moroccans, considering parents, especially mothers, are the gem of the household.

I think it is disrespectful when they ask me do I know simple things that most muslims learn from the beginning. The thing that a lot of people I think, think is that Americans can not be real muslims. It is like you are stupid, I do not say mean things I just do not reply to them when they ask. Even though the family is important and i respect them a lot and they feel the same about me, however, with different cultures sometimes you have to set boundries with people. Becuase if you do not they will run all over you. I know what I need to know and as a muslim I am always growing. But I am American and I do know when the culture is not religion and the other way around.

It's a bloody legitimate question. Reading her posts, I was just curious about what exactly I was dealing with here. If that of a native speaker, then my conclusions that she's an ignorant, sub-literate cretin based on the content of her posts and piss-poor ability to articulate would be well warranted. If not, then maybe something was being lost in translation.

OKay cookie, I have come back after a few hours and I see that you have tried to start something. Tell me what I did not express.

"Of course however my fiance and his family seems to think I do not know anything. Like pray and stuff." This is what I said and my first sentence implies that they think that I do not have basic knowledge for all of those that seem to foget to read completely.

"I do not have much patiances for his family however, they like to ask thousands of questions about what I know." This can be very annoying, I am not sure who said I disrespect them but when you read more I explain a situation with his aunt in the restroom "time I guess his aunt wanted to show me how to do wudu and I was so pissed, but I did not know what to say. I just got up and I came back to the restroom another time."

So where was the disrespect and all this other stuff you guys are claiming. You know what- ___ off.

You in the hell do you guys go straight to the bs practice what you preach. I do not preach on this stupid board. What did I write you read it and read it well and get back to me. Anyway, I am finished with this conversation. I wonder why we can never have decent religious converstaion. And you know if you want to talk about being muslim you will see that back bitting is not the way either.
