Husband got the message yesterday that his EAD was in production! Woo finally. :)

Happy for everyone who has heard so far!!

I have a question, he asked me if he needs a valid (unexpired passport) to get a job, is this necessary? The passport expires in January and there's no telling if he'll have his green card by then. Unfortunately his embassy wont renew it without evidence of his legal presence here... Anyone know?

Also, maybe it has been answered but can you get a GA drivers license with just EAD or do you need the green card (obviously I-94 has expired at this point)?

I just checked the USCIS website and my EAD has jumped to "My card was ordered to be produced" and AP has been approved! Woohoo I'm so happy!!

If they catch you working for cash without your EAD or Green card your AOS will be denied and you can even get deported! We are still not 100% admitted in this country until our green card is aprove

He can get drivers license with EAD as I see Aurore already said, but you or a friend... Or Uber will have to get him there

His embassy here requires that he prove his legal status in the US with valid I-94 (expired) or green card in order to get it renewed. Maybe they would accept his EAD but they don't specify that. On top of that, it will take two months because it gets sent from his country.

Regretting not sorting this out before we moved stateside. This also entails a trip to DC. At least he will get to see the nation's capitol.

You need to take the driving portion of the test, right? So you can't uber to the DMV. You need a car to take the test I think.

Ema got her EAD/AP combo card on Saturday the 22nd. She was so happy because it was one day before her birthday. What a nice birthday gift!

K-1 Visa

Oct 1st, 2013 – Mailed in I-129F Package to Dallas Lockbox.

Oct 4th, 2013 – Package Delivered.

Oct 9th, 2013 - NOA1 Text and Email

Oct 15th, 2013 - NOA1 Hardcopy received in mail. Notice date on hardcopy says October 8th.

Nov 13th, 2013 - NOA2 - update on USCIS website

Dec 9th, 2013 - Petition received at NVC

Dec 11th, 2013 - Petition sent to Manila

Dec 19th, 2013 - Embassy receives petition

Dec 29th-Jan 8th-Our first New Year's together.

Feb 23rd- Fly to Manila to be with Ema for the interview.

And thanks for answering a question that I should have been able to google for myself! I think my hubby was looking on a non-official site an got confused about the rules...

I wonder if I have to go with him to the DMV. He probably can't drive himself there, right? Since he's been here more that 30 days, his foreign license isn't really valid for driving here... Meh, I don't have days to take off work. I had so many more vacation days in Europe!

I think you have to go with him (or someone else can go like a friend or family member). He will need a car to take the driving test. I already got a GA drivers license once (like 5 years ago) and I had someone driving me there and I used his car to take the test. He shouldn't go by himself since he's not supposed to drive with his foreign license.

Lol yes! Omg I totally forgot you have to bring the car here!!!!! It's different where I'm from the driving place has their own car they make you drive

My EAD was mailed today. My GC was expedited due to DL concerns and a notice was sent don't know what notice is that...

It is advisable to file an AP... Well GC isn't is a slow process although there are some in here who were approve already

Hi welcome!!!

A few people had their interviews this past week and are approved. Not GC in hand yet.

I would apply for EAD or AP or even both if I was you... I think it's better to have it and don't use it that needing it and not having it.... And it's free! Also with EAD you can drive and have SSN

How fast after this status change did you guys get the actual interview appointment notice?

Yes, I would be curious too!!

Once my EAD was approved I had to look how long does it take from card production until people get their EAD haha. So I totally understand.
